It's going to be set in 3049 when it launches and don't forget that the game is meant to have a progressive timeline so if the game is successful enough (fingers crossed) and sticks around for a while, it's possible we may see those mechs get introduced in game.

With vehicle customization, I'll take an exterminator chassis. 1 ER PPC, 1 Large Laser, 5 meds, full armor, 150 meter jump capacity, ECM suit and use the left over tonnage for double heat sinks. Provided Star League Tech is prevalent enough. If not, pull the auto-cannon from the Clint, toss in a PPC, use the saved weight for armor and heat sinks. Banshees are nice too...

I think the 'Mech you are wishing for is either a Lynx or a Starslayer. That, or a Maelstrom you've added Jump Jets to.
