A C3 Network is a network consisting of either a C3 Command Unit and up to three C3 Slave Units or six C3i units. Basically a special tight-beam communications network, they are used to share targeting data between 'Mechs and Combat Vehicles. The original C3 Networks were introduced in 3050 by the Draconis Combine[1].

There is no way in lore the DCMS would share it with other Houses, and I don't believe it was in general production for other Houses for years after the DCMS had it. Anyways it just makes good sense, and DCMS tax money paid for it. The other Houses are just looking for a free ride.

In 3049 this is completely true.

The clan invasion in 3050 makes for strange bedfellows...

I think that C3 doesn't really become available to everyone till Operation Bulldog.

The Sunder B was specifically designed as a node for larger C3 networks, it would be nice if your allies could also reap the benefits here by installing a C3 slave.

it's possible somebody got hold of enough Drac mech salvage to start piecing together C3 parts and build their own version

1. draft their own version of the C3 from Drac salvage.
2. ??? (outfit their units and sell inferior versions to others)
3. PROFIT!

This ties into my belief that factions in MWO should have an effect on the marketplace values.

Mind you, I don't think that it should be impossible to get in the other factions, but because nobody produces it, they'd have to get it at a premium through the black market - meaning that they'd pay a whole lot more for them.

I thought it would be smart to have things that are more common for a given faction: Let's say for example, the DCMS, and how they love PPCs and Missile weapons - those systems would come with a discount of about 20%. On the other hand, stuff they don't have access to directly, like Double Heat Sinks, would come at a 20% Premium.

I would have to agree But then the rest of us will just load up on ECM gear and nullify your C3 Network.

Evidently, the Houses' military and industrial espionage programs are generally more effective in MWO than in the canon BattleTech universe... :D
As a result (and per both Q&A 02 and Q&A 03), everyone would have access to everything, though prices may vary from Faction to Faction.

The devs mentioned that all technology would be available to everyone, but that it might cost more or less depending on your affiliation - so things may actually end up as per ice trey's suggestion.

Personally, I am a bit torn on the issue at hand. On one hand, it would be nice if some systems would remain exclusive to various factions in order to facilitate a more unique playstyle. On the other hand, technology transfer is probably more realistic than each and every rank-and-file pilot customizing their ride as they wish. Plus, this way faction affiliation is completely independent from the cookiecutter-powergamer-concerns of those players who may join up with some House (or the Clans!) solely because they want item X. Technological advantage shifts from decade to decade, too - it is really not as if the other Houses would not occasionally have something first.

I wouldn't mind mech parts stock market. Then I'd reinstall the client onto my laptop and play Stockwarrior Online.

I'll play Mechwarrior Online when I get home and share the benefits to my fellow Kuritans :)

At a small investment fee of course. :)

If this were Chromehounds, yeah.

While true to lore, all the other houses would just use Teamspeak, so... It's a silly idea.

Hey, Draconian. Why not export some of the C3 gears to us Capellans for our Ravens? I heard that the C3 network is unpopular in among of the DCMS for a time being due to the adherence of bushido. But we can assure you folks that in exchange, we would sell some Ravens to the Combine. Sounds good? :)

C3 is also a comm network to share mission details, targeting and coordination data and lance information with other lancemates. But the funny thing is, the C3 network was unpopular in among of the DCMS since they adhere too much on the codes of bushido to fulfill the individual achievements as an honored warrior in the 3050s. Still, the folks in the DCMS will gradually adapt the C3 network within the mean time.

Hey, I think the C3 network makes an effective use with a lances consist of a few scout mechs like Raven (and Jenner).

Okay, how about you guys trade a number of your Dragons for our Ravens in an equivalent quantities. How is that? Cause the C3 network would be a white elephant if you guys did not make a good use of such useful inventories. Speaking of everything are available for everyone but the prices vary depends on players' affiliation, do they ever think of introducing the marketing systems?

By the way, the C3 network, the Command Console and the Dual cockpit both function differently in applications.

C3 network - Command,Control and Communication
Command Console - Command and Communication
Dual Cockpit - Control and Communication

Is it correct?

hehe, yeah, though C3 is the official name that PGI has given its VoiceSystem,
it stands in reference to the "original" C3 Network as used in Battletech
