This an interesting one and it is a closer match up then you might think. I'm going to go with the Victor because it's a challenge to pilot but absolutely devastating when done well.

It all depends on the terrain. On open ground the Warhammer has the advantage, but if the Victor can get to medium range then the equation changes. The Warhammer doesn't have the armour to take AC20 rounds for long, and while that extra armour doesn't seem like much the fact that damage is split into 2 lots of 10 as opposed to 1 group of 20 makes a significant difference.

In a city the Victor is one of the ultimate mechs and can take on anything if well piloted areas.

2 PPCs is a less focused punch than 1 AC20, but you have a chance to hit at least once, but if you miss with AC20 you miss it all)
Anyway it's all about conditions, skill and luck)

Warhammer, those twin PPC's win me over. You only need to stay away from the Victor, since it lacks long range weapons.

I'm assuming that we are talking about the VTR-9B and WHM-6R models here.

BOTH!

if i can only have two mechs, it will be those two. Voted for Whammy, as it's my all-time favourite mech, but the Victor is a milimeter away.

I preferred the Warhammer, just as I prefer with the Uziel. Armour versatility can be upgraded even though it's strong points aren't defense, but Dual PPC's with several heatsinks can be an epic weapon if you have good aim. Just distancing yourself can allow you to destroy a Victor, but still the Victor is an awesome mech too.

I'll take a Victor anyday, and since this is 3049 then LostTec is no longer Lost and most faction militaries will have SL tech in their Assaults. That means the Victor gets a Gauss Rifle and that is some nasty 550-600m punch add the med pulse lasers as it closes and that whammy is just that much more scrap on the field. plus JJs make me able to get around much better.

Warhammer, I do love a stand up fight but sometimes it is best to move and shoot. And two PPCs make that a fun thing to do with this mech. Plus it is just more of a classic mech to me.

Victor due to the extra mobility of the jump jets. On a flat terrain light on trees and cover it would be a problem getting close to the Warhammer without suffering some damage, but once the Victor gets in tight all the advantages shift. Jump jets would be huge, and the twin PPC's on the Warhammer would be within minimum range factors on many shots. On top of that, the AC/20 on the Victor punches a hole anywhere on the 'Hammer.

My thought exactly: I want an assault with jump jets at launch (possibly even one of each category if possible)

By i'm not sure the PPC will have a minimum range, sur it's closer to TT, but I never saw a mechwarrior title were minimum range were well represented
(except for the LRM low turn radius, making them miss often, but still not really a minimum range)

When a Victor encounters a Warhammer what shall he do?

-Kill the 12 Panthers around it and make sure the Princess gets to safety

Victor, because I think the re-seen Warhammer is ugly (and not even 'functionally beautiful' ugly). The original Warhammer might give me pause, but I know that's a pipe dream.

EDIT - why did it post the text I wrote twice? I'd understand if it'd made two posts, but this...?

Most certainly the victor. I prefer the versatility and maneuverability it offers over the warhammer.

I would vote Warhammer since its iconic.

But then again it has no defence against modern Level 3 Corporate weapons such as the Law Suite Range Missiles or Copyright Infringement Jammer.
Until Clan Tomy and Clan Harmony Gold get absorbed in Trial of Annihilation, I'd vote for the Victor just because it doesn't have enough exposure. Feeding someone a Pontiac -20 garbage can sized AC shell is always a nice idea after dropping in on their face.

Victor! It has look and style even if it is a Davion mech.

I think this is a "Which one do you like more?" and not a "Which one will win in a fight?". In that case, I kind of like the Victor more so if nothing but the fact that it is named after Victor Steiner-Davion, one of the most BA people in the BT/MW universe.

On the note of "Which one will win in a fight?", there is no definite answer. So many variables...which some of you have mentioned. Maybe I should do a general warefare thread to address those...still thinking about it since I've seen a ton of these "this mech/weight class will always win out over this mech/weight class" threads...okay maybe three or four, but still thinking about it...

Seriously I prefer the Warhammer, though will soon be posting a comparison of the two to give all around views on these two good mechs.

Give me a Warhammer any day, The Victor won't get to use that AC20 if you don't let it get close to you meanwhile it just gets pecked at by twin PPCs.... I know I know Victor got the jump jets but so what? It just falls farther before it goes BANG!
