From The Mech Dev Blog:

In the lower left of the screen is the ’Mech’s damage readout. It will be familiar to anyone who has played past MechWarrior games as it divides the ’Mech into its 8 hit locations (left and right arm, left and right leg, left and right torso, center torso, and head) as well as showing the rear locations for the three torso pieces. Each location is divided to show the state of the armor (the outline) and the internal structure (the solid shape inside). As the armor or internals of a location take damage, the corresponding image changes color, turning closer to red, until it is destroyed and the image goes dark.

First Mechwarrior game to properly include and show internal structure?

Critical hits and internal structure is PROPERLY in the game. Rejoice, for the light has shined upon us today.

Amen.

The other mechwarrior games showed internals just fine. This new way is cool too. I am disappoint in 8 hit locations, but I'll still raise my fist in how awesome this is all looking! Huzzah!!!

Really? From what I could tell, other MW games only showed one location for each spot, not two, one for armor and one for internal.

Actually turns out you're right. The other games (besides Mechwarrior Living Legends, who's internal damage is coming in the future) all had it so you were basically on internals when you hit the "red" damage, as opposed to a separate display.

Clearly, we need a rainbow hud, else the brony faction will rebel.

Heh, who knows what can be bought in game market

and to topic itself, I pretty much was sure there is system like that. When they said its gonna be more simulation than
arcade.

The HUD was awesome. I am loving this reincarnation of mechwarrior. Also the showing of both armor and internal is great. It kinda reminds me of mektek.

IIRC, MechWarrior3 had internal gauges when you switched to the "health bar" diagram. Can't find a screenshot of it though, and I still can't get it to work on my computer.

Yes, All the Mechwarrior Games had the internals when you switched to the HTAL monitor. It just wasn't on the Mechshape itself.

I find this all very encouraging. Still cautious optimism.

And yeah, options to change HUD colors shouldn't be too hard to manage.

You are correct. I was mashing the MW3, where the HTAL had the smaller bars be internals rear armor (nope, wrong again)... and s1 s2 Special Armor of MW4...

Yep, just nothing right about anything I said. YAY INTERNALS!

only thing else missing is the option to change between different hud styles, hopefully the devs can come up with a few and we are able to mix and match. But that is a low priority.

I'm hoping they are Mech, or faction specific. Doesn't look that way though.

Course if it was really tied to your helmet... maybe they'd be generic.

Being colorblind that would basically be imperative for me.

Yeah. Colorcoding helps a crapload when finding important info. If I'm honest, I'm a little sick of "Future Orange".

Oh, good point. Maybe the devs could be talked into going a blue/yellow scheme for those that are red/green colorblind? It would be hard to tell what condition your mech is in if every bar is just shades of brown...
