Okay, so I have limited knowledge of those two games. I'll admit it. But that's not the point.

It would be interesting to include a mode where 'Mechs, weapons, etc. are bought at the start of the mode, and iterated upon as the game progresses. Maybe offering some lower end Light and Heavies, and gradually unlocking things through in-match currency, as well as resources taken from other downed 'Mechs. A trimmed down MechLab would be integral to this mode.

The resources would then be taken back to your team's base (potentially as transferrable cargo to fill a transport role in the role warfare continuum), for you to invest into your team's economy (maybe splitting the pay 70/30 so the player can still upgrade themselves, but still has a reason to contribute to the team), which could be used to upgrade 'Mechs, weapons, base infrastructure, etc.

The game would be played over a larger map with smaller bases dispersed throughout, which would also provide resources when capped. The game would end when a team's base gets destroyed/captured by the enemy.

Respawn tickets, selectable 'Mechs and weapons, and the like would be modifiable.

Um, I think that sums up what will probably happen in the game, just not in one match but in the overall battle for the universe

sounds like the mechcommander series.

FPS nd RTS attributes usually have a hard time mixing into Sims

Exactly. While I like MWLL gameplay a lot, I suppose(and I really hope I'm right) MWO matches would be held as "no-respawn, you dead - that's it". As for upgrades etc, as nubnub said, it would be conducted between matches, with all your upgrades being persistent and permanent. Unless you let your enemy to waste your mech, that it. :P

I too much don't like the Kiting in MW:LL to want it happen in MWO (You know people who fire 3 shots and cowardly retreat to baseturrets and repair their lousy mechs to farm C-bills, and strike with an Atlas later)

would be very much ruin the rolewarfare stuff.
