SO can I expect the heavy class to be "nerfed" in this release?

Probably because some (former) assault/heavy lovers cannot get over it that Mech weight alone might not be an "I win"-button any more? :P

Aha! Knew it! :D

Perhaps "Nerfed" is too strong a word, maybe I should have said "Watered down"

Its just an impending gut feeling I had about the games direction on this issue specifically and decided to share my thoughts and also get peoples opinions. Remember I made the thread before the game play and interview videos came out. :P

I'm not saying this re-orientation should definitely not be done, and we have no idea how it will turn out yet.

I'm just saying if there is any balancing it should be done tastefully whilst still preserving old sensible characteristics of classes. Being a heavy shouldn't become a chore just because they tended to win in the past, I've seen the Big heavy thing with guns in a game end so much harder to use than other classes at the thing they should be good at, and not worth selecting in the long haul.

I don't think it suits a game like this to strive for an even playing field in all areas anyway. When new players especially become aware of a big mech with lots of guns they naturally expect it to be baddass, not go down easy.
Hopefully the role balancing and usefulness across the classes shine in the role playing playing areas of the game and not at battlefield dominance where suddenly mech classes become more of a paint scheme and aesthetic thing than real world physical consequences.

Head cappers will only come with the Gauss and AC-20, which are both opposite ends of the range spectrum.

Last I checked the Gauss was one of the longest ranged weapons in the game. Of course that was back when TR 3050 came out in first print. Did that change?

I think the other poster was referring to a Clan ER PPC, which does enough damage to destroy the entire location on the first hit.

I know, but the rule still remains. In TT, once you penetrate the armor and hit the internal structure, you get to roll to see if you got a critical (an if so how many). It doesn't matter if you hit it with a Gauss Rifle or CER PPC, if you only breach the armor and hit the internal structure once, you only get the one chance for a critical hit. Sure, the location is still destroyed and in the case of the head, the mech is rendered defunct, but just because the internal structure is obliterated doesn't mean all the items in the critical slots are destroyed. Weird I know but those are the rules . . Not saying that MW:O is going to follow that or anything just being literal.

Sorry for the thread derail.
