Q: Can you release which variants of the already-announced Battlemechs (Cataphract, Stalker, Trebuchet, Cicada, Raven) you plan to implement? [Redshift2k5]
A: So far we have: Cataphract - CTF-1X; CTF-3D; CTF-2X; CTF-3L; CTF-4X. Stalker - STK-5M; STK-3F; STK-3H; STK-4N; STK-5S. Trebuchet - TBT-7M; TBT-3C; TBT-5J; TBT-5N; TBT-7K. Cicada - CDA-3M; CDA-2A; CDA-2B; CDA-3C. Raven - RVN-3L; RVN-2X; RVN-4X. [Garth]

Q: My question is: Do you devs actually read the beta forums often? It seems like
we're posting for no one to read it sometimes. [CloaknDagger]
A: Yes they do! In fact, most of my job is showing people posts and pointing out heated issues. [Garth]

Q: What is the easiest question that may come to your mind and you are willing to answer? [Nash]
A: Do I like UrbanMechs; and Yes. [Garth]

Q: Is there any possibility that the size of these 'Mechs will be changed at some point in development, or should we consider the appearance of a 'Mech to be final once in-game? [Renthrak]
A: At this point assume they are final. They MAY be looked at, but unless there is a major issue it is doubtful. [Garth]

Q: Can we get a picture of Garth playing MWO while wearing pink fluffy bunny slippers? [DrnkJawa]
A: If you supply the slippers, I'll supply the pictures. [Garth]

Q: Do you always answering only on convenient questions? :) [Vovochka404]
A: Absolutely! [Garth]

Q: Have you guys considered adding Coolant Pods to increase heat dissipation of a mech's heatsinks when used? [vayne]
A: Yes, we considered and then dropped the idea. We found it more of a crutch and lead to more issues than it helped with. If you're in a long, multi-targetted single player game, it makes sense. In a player vs. player environment you get a MASSIVE increase in firepower for no cost, or it wouldn't be enough to make a difference (IE. the match would never last long enough for you running out of coolant to matter, because you've already killed two people. Or, it doesn't even last a single fight, then why even have it?) Does that make sense? [Garth]

Q: What is the native resolution MWO is shooting for? 16:9? 4:3? Will the game scale well between formats in regards to field of view? [Rhyshaelkan]
A: We don't have a specific native res in mind, though most of us use 16:9. We have monitors of each type, so we'll make sure it works on all of them ;) [Garth]

Q: Every MechWarrior game I've played to this point has had a training mission/map to run you through piloting, reading the minimap, usind the HUD and all the other nitty-gritty of battling in your glorious death-machine. Will MWO have a similar feature available? [Donovan Griffon]
A: Yes, a training mode of some sort will be added in the future. It's a lot of work but we'll get to it! [Garth]

Q: MWO needs ridiculously huge maps, something that takes scout mechs at least 10 minutes to cross, that way they can actually be used for scouting, spotting, and/or ambushes can be set (and even better countered-ambushed). Please tell us there are huge maps on the way. [Faolan65]
A: We have bigger maps coming, yes. The next one will be larger than any seen thus far. [Garth]

Q: Do you read beta feedback everyday, or from time to time? [Dramel]
A: Yes, and you'll often see devs posting after I point out threads of interest to them :) These tend to be well thought out and written ones /wink [Garth]

Q: When are we getting LAMBS? [Solis Obscuri]
A: I'll ask Paul about that, I'm sure he'd be thrilled to add them. [Garth]

Q: So I reiterate, HOW did you not compromise the unique role of different mechs? [NessOnett]
A: The idea is that even Mechs with the same weight and speed, even the same weapons, can be different. Height differences, torso twist differences, inertia and stop-speed differences. Also weapon hardpoint PLACEMENT. The Centurion has CT laser hardpoints and the Hunchback has arm laser hardpoints. This means the HB can cover a greater angle of fire, but the Centurion can 'zombie Mech' with no arms, legs, or side torsos and still fight. So, stuff like that. [Garth]

Q: Is there any chance that you will add the ability to crouch your battlemech while standing still? [Raketenwurm]
A: We're investigating it. Currently it's a maybe. [Garth]

Q: Any plans on adding a 55ton mech? [Hodo]
A: Yes. [Garth]

Q: We know armor values have been doubled. But have internal structure values been doubled (or otherwise adjusted) too?
Is it possible to blow off and entire section in one shot or is this prevented? [KitK]
A: Internal values are not doubled, though we're always looking at balance and seeing what works.

Currently you COULD theoretically take a section off in 'one shot' on lights if they are not using maximum armour. It'd almost certainly need to be an AC/20. That said you can cause a lot of damage with single shots, yes. [Garth]

Q: What can you tell us about the plans for the meta game besides soon™ and/or working on it? [Icaruss]
A: Not really. Sorry :( [Garth]

Thanks for your interest, everyone! Hope you enjoyed the answers, and we'll be back here next week :)

Cheers,
The MechWarrior Online Team

Garth, you rock! I'll consider this my birthday present from PGI.

Cataphract - CTF-1X; CTF-3D; CTF-2X; CTF-3L; CTF-4X.
Stalker - STK-5M; STK-3F; STK-3H; STK-4N; STK-5S.
Trebuchet - TBT-7M; TBT-3C; TBT-5J; TBT-5N; TBT-7K.
Cicada - CDA-3M; CDA-2A; CDA-2B; CDA-3C.
Raven - RVN-3L; RVN-2X; RVN-4X.

Four Cicadas! FIVE Trebuchets! Five Stalkers and five Cataphracts?!

If anyone wants to know which variants of the other mechs (Jenner, Commando, Hunchback, Centurion, Dragon, Awesome, Atlas) they can go get a beta key from Ten ton Hammer or PC Gamer and see for themselves :)

Glad to see that he addressed the issue of cooling pods. I was against them, but I have to admit that it will be hard to get used to not reaching for that "coolant flush" key á lá MW4.

I really liked this one !
Lots of good information and less senseless questions that takes the place of good ones.
I did wanted the coolant (I've asked more than once about them), but at lease, now we got ourselves an answer.

Wait a sec, the variant list is missing the Jagermech.

Derp, also missing the Spider. Oh well

Do you really think before you answer something Garth?

I mean, there's a really big chanc you'll get a mail containing those pink fluffy bunny slippers really soon. Unless you use counter-logic and simply take a picture, where you not only wear those slippers, but also normal clothes.

Apparently I didn't! What I really wanted to know was which Stalkers you planned to include, anyway. Thanks again :)

I approve of the fact that you answered a lot of serious questions instead of maybe 1 or 2 serious questions while answering 2-3 stupid ones. It's a vast improvement over the last 2 or 3 ask the devs.

Cicada - CDA-3M; CDA-2A; CDA-2B; CDA-3C.
Raven - RVN-3L; RVN-2X; RVN-4X. [Garth]

Are these the variants planned for now or there will be more for these mechs in the next few years? The Stalker has other cool variants (like the STK-5M, the STK-3FB and the STF-3FK).

And what about the JagerMech?

PS: Please don't make us wait too much for the #16 mech (*cough* Victor *cough*).
