Love the idea, and as a US Army veteran, it almost gives me goose bumps. But with a 10 month old I just cant be in TS all the time, or when I'm a work and playing. Makes me sad, but hopefully I'll get to fight at your sides sometime.

I wouldn't sweat not being on t.s. all the time.

Where'd you do your time in at?

I got assigned to the 187th at the 101st. Right next to the air assault school.
What a daffy bunch. Loved to run us into the ground.

Oh many places :D

I was stationed at Hood, JICPAC Pearl Harbor, South Korea at CRC, and back at Huachuca as an instructor. Those are my main postings. South Korea in the summer/Monsoon season... SUCKED.

I was what our illustrious Combat Arms brethren would consider a Pogue. But such is the life of Combat Support

Lookin forward to checking out the footage! Did you guys record dialog as well? I hope to make it for the next session!

No, any audio outside of game audio itself will be added in during editing. I hope you make it too, as the more bodies we have, the faster we can get the filming done.

TS requirements aren't nearly as strict as it sounds. We have one meet and greet on TS that we require of new recruits so they can meet some of the C&S, and during times when you're playing supported games, and only then for comms purposes and getting matched up with groups to game with. If you can't voice chat because your child is sleeping or you're at work, that isn't a big deal, because TS provides comms by both voice and text.

Haha, I can see that actually. It's not generally my kind of music, but I thought about it, and it's totally got a cowboy/cavalry kinda thing goin on.

Which is a blessing, because Guido can talk a dog off a meat wagon.

Not sure if you mean I'm long-winded or silver-tongued B) I wouldn't have to talk so much if everyone read the field manual...oh god, not the dreaded hellburnt fury of the field manual! Posted Image

No, I do ramble sometimes when I'm on my pain meds. Not because I can't think, but because I forget that I've already covered what I'm saying. Speaking of forgetting, did you test the server yet Dan?

Not interested...

Just got out of the Army, not a good experience. I would love to play the game, but would rather play it with regular people. I do not consider myself a veteran, just a citizen who wore the uniform. I have taken it off and will never put it on again-even in my mind.

Also, blast injuries make it simply impossible to play paintball in any capacity.

Looks like it would be fun if you set it up as an actual merc company. Does the game allow that?

In any event, happy trails.

I'm wearing my 3/187 t-shirt right now.

Got it from a friend though, I was never in that "Airborne" unit. 82nd and 173rd for me. Real airborne. B)

My Navy experience was pretty bad... So bad the psych wants to diagnose me with PTSD... and I had a "desk" job. Granted it was on an aircraft carrier, directly beneath the spot on the flightdeck where the jets touched down... and I had a dozen bosses... who always wanted different things and the few times they wanted the same thing they wanted it done different ways and often it was something I could only do once so if I pleased one I pissed off the other 11... I nearly died a couple times from freak accidents AND I was nearly booted out of the service for something I didn't do, I worked 3 paygrades above my own on a regular basis, singlehandedly completed 3 inspections that were supposed to be done by my entire division, and I worked a 72 hour day with no sleep and 2 meals, developed a heart proble, nearly lost a toe, etc...

But I never got shot at (though I had weapon radars pointing at me) and was never caught in an explosion (though I caught on fire once).

So "maybe" I have PTSD... from being in a constant state of stress for almost the entire 4 years I was in with a few brief breaks. Maybe...

So yea, I kinda rambled for a while there but you get the picture (I think). I'm not so "Joe Navy" or "Gungho" anymore but I still respect those who are and have been. I myself wouldn't have dreamed of joining a military themed organization a few months ago but now I must admit I sort of miss having at least a handful o people to count on since I have no one now. Plus while I had a pretty rough time being in the navy, I still find myself thinking about the real heroes out there and I kinda dig the idea of "Playing Soldier". If anything it would at least be a different experience from being a low ranking sailor thrown into high ranking duties for 3 of the four years straight. At least in a combat themed game like this I actually have something to take my frustration out on. Enemy players. B)

Thanks you for your service Kazzen. Another huge upside to BWC is the C&S. Cool headed, very approachable and so willing to help make players better. Their system flat-out, works.

Would definitely be interested in joining a well organized group. From what I've seen of you guys you have it in spades. How many people do you have prepped to play MWO now? Are you running any practice ops?

Head on over to http://the-bwc.com and apply. Process is pretty fast. I can't specifically say what the numbers are as there are new people applying daily it seems. Practice wise, many are in the beta every night playing as much as they can. No specific ops per se.

Hope to see you there!!

I joined BWC on JULY 2nd, I must say it is one great group of folks. They are willing to work with you and get you trained up. They do not force you into anything, you get as much responsibility as you ask for.

Our exact numbers are considered OPSEC, however, we have enough active pilots that we are going to be expanding to Regimental size. Practice Ops, training and all manner of instructional programs are held on a near daily basis, with many opportunities available to advance your skills and overall effectiveness.

I myself never have been, nor will be in any military institution. I was still welcomed in, and am given every opportunity to advance here. I'm no military buff either, so don't sweat it. What I'd like you to come away from this thread knowing, is that this is a GAMING Company, modeled after some of the most effective combat organizations in the world. The point of this Company is to game -LIKE- a professional, with other like minded, mature, professional players. In this environment where people depend on each other, they do tend to create bonds and community pride, but that's not the point, it's merely a common side effect. It's not actually necessary to have those aspects or characteristics in your gaming experience, or to be in the BWC, it's just common.

As for the whole thing about Military and good experience/bad experience, I don't think any non-sociopath enjoys their experience per say. I'm an outsider of course, so I couldn't tell you from personal experience, but it seems to me like it's a respect and a pride they have for enduring the necessary evils associated with maintaining National Sovereignty for their county. The Military didn't make them "cool". They developed character under trial and hardship, and that makes them cool. And it's not for everyone, it's not for me. But I respect them.

This Company is what I really like and want though. At least as far as gaming goes. You can be the best player in the world, and if you're stuck with a bunch of disorganized knuckleheads, you're still going to lose against any well organized, disciplined, bunch of mediocre players working together extremely well. (NOTE: Stuff left out for OpSec) I'm here so that I can win. I like winning. And I'm tired of playing with a bunch of disillusioned loner's.

Besides Blandtastic, if you really weren't interested, you wouldn't have deliberately singled yourself out by posting in our thread. XD

NOT

FOOLING

ANYONE.

Just like with The Outlaw Kazzen, you'll be back. And you may fight it, but you will join. And I will be there to tell you that thing I love to tell people when they end up doing exactly what I told them they'd be doing. :o
