I've really enjoyed my short time with BWC and I'm sure your lance will as well. Hopefully I'll see you during the next training session. I believe there is one scheduled for this Sunday.

Those 120 GB SSDs are coming down in price too. Good for those programs you need to load fast.

OS + hardcore programs on SSD

Normal HDDs for the rest of your resources. In at least a mirrored raid. I can attest to losing data in crashed hard drives. Annoying to say the least.

Amazon goldbox has some good deals on SSD today.

All I know is I'm very happy with my new GTX 670. Once I get a damned display port cable, I'll be rocking my 3 monitors. :D

SSD = Solid State Drive. As stated, no moving parts. Access is very fast. Up until very recent they were too expensive for home use. Now it is more common to find them as the C drive in new systems. To keep the price down, they are much smaller than the 1 terabyte spinning disks being installed as C drives when SSD is not.

The training sessions offered through BWC are invaluable to how we operate... from comm discipline, focus fire, etc they all play a role in how well we work as a team to drop anyone who is in our sights ;)

Oh... forgot to mention... got all my comp parts off of newegg.com. Can't beat the prices for what they offer.

The training is awesome, though I feel like I'm in boot camp again, at least I don't have to hear about not shaving lol.
But I do feel slightly, just very slightly sorry for any one that is going to oppose us.

New Egg rocks in my opinion. Built my computer from components bought from them. Good customer service, I really like their how to videos. And if you have time to buy your components then you can save a bunch of money from their sales. I built a wishlist and started buying off of their sales for a month. Saved a bit of money.

I used both Tiger Direct and New Egg in the past. I still use Tiger Direct to get the data I need. They have an amazing amount of information about their products; videos, reviews, I/O layouts, photos of what comes in the box. I then end up buying from Amazon or directly from the manufacture's web site, where ever I can get the best price.

I like my Samsung SSDs. I haven't had an issue with them. Got a good deal on them on a NewEgg sale.

Haven't messed with SSD's much.. the computer store I used to work for had a lead technician though that would swear by them... if I had the spare dough I'd take a look at them but that is a project for down the road. I'm pretty well set with my comp as it sits:
AMD Athlon II quad 650 3.20 GHz
8 GB RAM
Win7 64 bit
nVidia GeForce GTX 550Ti 1GB
1 TB Hitachi HDD
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (off newegg for $25)
24" main monitor with 20" side monitor
RAIDMAX Blackstorm ATX-615WU case
630w power supply
HD audio with Logitech headset
stock mouse and keyboard
and because of my current network setup EdiMax USB wireless 1 GB adapter

OK...here's a stupid newbie computer question...do video cards have to match mobos and cpu's? I have a Sapphire HD6850 that has an AMD chipset. I hate the drivers. Can I put a Nvidia card on if I have a ASUS motherboard and a AMD CPU?

Yes, you can use an nVidia card with an AMD CPU. (Or AMD/ATI card w/ Intel CPU).

I was always getting Nvidia graphic cards to put in my AMD powered systems. I only recently switched to ATI because of problems with a specific game, not because of processor/graphic incompatibilities.

Here is the system I build to game on:
  • Cooler Master tower
  • Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000 Watt Power Supply
  • ASUS M4A79T Deluxe Motherboard
  • AMD Phenom II x4 965 Processor 3.41 GHz
  • 8 GB Ram
  • 1 TB ATA Disk Drive
  • Win 7 64 bit
  • AMD Radeon HD 6800 Graphics
  • Display 1: Dell U2311H
  • Display 2: Dell S2209W
  • Realtek High Definition Audio
  • Logitech Z506 Surround Sound speakers
  • Logitech G35 Surround Sound headset
  • Logitech G6500 Laser mouse
  • Razer Nostromo Keypad
  • Saitek Eclipse II keyboard
  • Saitek X52 Joystick and Throttle
I'm not rich, just old. Everything else is paid for so my paycheck can support my hobbies now.

Sweet!

I'm thinking of buying the new Nvidia 680. Probably the EVGA. I just worked a butt load of overtime so I have the money to blow on it. I'm running an AMD six core processor, the FX6100 on an ASUS 990fx Extreme 4 mobo. I thought that I had to have the AMD/ATI video card to go with that set up. I think I'd rather go with an Nvidia card since I've heard the drivers are far superior and better supported than AMD/ATI right now.

Before I pick up any of the 600s from Nvidia, I am going to SLI my 560ti with a second one and save some money :)

Honestly though, not many games out there really demand that kind of power (the 600 series). My 560ti runs everything that is out now really well, at full settings for the most part. Even certain titles that haven't hit the public as well. But if I had the money, I sure would get a EVGA 680 in a hurry haha

I've just started running an SSD for my system drive and the difference is outstanding - I would certainly recommend them and I plan on replacing data drives as I go.

Also just activated my second monitor - it's not an impressively huge LCD but I only use it for TS, or tools in Photoshop, perhaps watching a film whilst browsing the net..........I just hope they introduce dual monitor support for MWO - a separate map or instrument display would be AWESOME B)

Besides all the above bullshit, so far BWC MWO is looking good.... IMHO....
