I have a better idea, let's go back to operation Klondike.
Now those were some real meatgrinder battles.

I'd like to see this too, at least someplace in the 4th succession war.

That would appeal to me as well. Advancing from 3025 would be an ideal starting point, allowing players to appreciate the sudden losses and incremental advances of tech and machines prior to 3039, with no great loss in the quantity of models available.

Even though I'm FRR to my core, I'd go +1 for pushing it back to 3025. Opens things up for even more even more expansions, etc.

it's a nice sentiment but it's not going to happen. The clan invasion really was the high point in popularity for the mechwarrior franchise.

True, unfortunately that was also when it started becoming really cheesy.

Cheesy to some, more interesting to others. Either way I doubt they'll do such a move.

The vast majority of material came out of the invasion, making this the best time to put a live game into. As much as I like 3025-3039, the successor wars to the war of '39 would have too many blank spots where nothing new rolls out and we end up fighting for the same half dozen planets for half a year.
