Canon dictates the technology and resources won't be available for another 20 years. Why? Because they already have repair facilities on Drop Ships, and the only time such Mobile Repair Base technology truly comes into it's own is during extended campaigns on a single world without easy access to your Drop Ship facilities such as what happens during the FedCom Civil War.

Additionally, the point of the absence of such repair and rearming facilities during MWO games as we have seen so far is plain. It is to punish the wasteful expenditure of ammunition and unnecessary exposure to enemy fire. To allow them would be to reinforce such bad behaviors and ruin any attempt at tactics or strategy. Not to mention exponentially extend a game's length to which the Devs have already capped at 15 minutes.

This existed in MW4 for a brief period when folks found out how to add them to maps. They were quickly discarded because they tended to cause folks to just huddle around the repair bays.

Your talking Mobile Field Bases right? Maybe for a particular mode but there should be some sort of limit or something for the mode, like maybe the side with the MFBs has fewer mechs or something.

I assume he means this: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Jifty or one of it's related vehicles.

Though he could just as easily mean a MFB http://www.sarna.net...bile_Field_Base

I don't think they are needed nor do I want them. Nursing your ammo and trying to stay out of too much enemy fire should be a key tactic. Being able to slap on more armor and reload your LRMs in 10 seconds seems absurd for a simulation.

like i stated already to the "health regeneration" topic... canon-wise, repairing a battlemech is not done in a few minutes...even if you have a fully equipped hangar/ dock with a staff of well trained Technicians, it takes hours up to many days to repair a mech...a mobile field-repair dock would certainly enhance the time needed, and would be useful in longterm campaigns when fixed institutions aren´t available... so if we still want to stay close to canon, there will not be any way to repair your mech in a battle... so just be careful, don´t run into a bunch of enemies, get rid of typical MMOFPS playstyle, use your heads and safe your metal...

prevention is the better aid

I would not want mobile repair stations in the basic game, but if we get a campaign scenario where several encounters are linked, I think some type of field repair station would be a good thing. Fights to control such a station would be interesting.
