How on earth do you guys do these? Is there a tutorial somewhere? I find it hard to believe that you guys are all awesome graphic artists on the side... simply amazing how some of them look. Unfortunately, I don't have the faintest clue - going to start looking now - any guidance anyone can offer?

Real graphics artist, or just people who like toying with photoshop and such make threads in Fan Art and we simply ask them.

However, I haven't seen one in a good while. :P

Mine was made for me by an IRL friend, but there are plenty of talented graphic artists here that will make sigs on request. Check the Fan Art forums and you will find somebody in minutes.

Well, I heard practising, reading tutorials and practising more helps with creating great Signatures.

If you don't want to shell out $$$ for photo-/paintshop, try out gimp. Most photoshop tutorials can be used for gimp too, just some tools work a bit different. There's even gimpshop, a project that made a gimp version with an interface like photoshop.

(way too large image removed)

Signature sizes are fine as they are, otherwise the clarity of the forum suffers.

I've always had the opinion: If my post is shorter than my signature, I didn't think hard enough before posting.

Photoshop is a wonderful thing. I made some for people in that sign thread m and one for myself. May have to change it if I join a group instead of making my own. But have not done any since getting into beta.

I use 2 tools to make a sig. Both are very easy to use.

1. http://pixlr.com/editor/
Here you can make multilayers. Start with a nice picture or even a blank.
Then you can open next layer as a picture. To get it nice you need to open a png transparent.
So... when you done the picture upload it to this program:

2. http://www.bannerfan...1&pses=463d4b3b
Here you can tweak the txt you want, fonts, (a lot of fonts), colours, outline, shadow...you name it.
When you finish, save it as a jpg (most forums let you have a jpg sig)
Then you upload to i.e. imageshack.

Done.

I think there are a lot of people who have just had the opportunity to play around with Photoshop over the last decade or so. I'm amazed at how the skills of others seem to be increasing at an exponential rate.
