Will our drop ship be armed so we can land it in the middle of battle and use it as a battle platform?

They are outfitted with a number of weapons on most dropships, but they are usually well away from the battlefield and considered neutral ground. No lance or small company would want to assault on, as it has too much armor and armaments.
I don't know how they could or might implement the idea of honors of war, but eh ... it would be cool to see a dropship light up mechs ...

I'd love to see it as a spawn point in these "3 respawn" matches.
Taking it out could stop enemy reinforcements or be a win condition, but damn would it be a fight to do so.

It would be a massive undertaking ... would be a good idea for a battle scenario
Like calling it Overran, and you have to hold aa hot LZ until you can evacuate.
EXCEPT, this wouldn't happen because of Honors of War, they would never risk a dropship, unless it was a full-blown planet raid, a clan invasion, or Mercenary/ Draconis Combine fight. (Draconis dont give honors to Mercs)

I just remember playing mechwarrior minis. I was lucky enough to get one of the official drop ships from a con...looks like the one above except mine wears the draconis icons. They were fun as those 4 bays actually open up and your mechs tanks and stuff actually fit inside them. And yes drop ship battles were rare as they cost as many points as a medium size army. So to be able to use one it has to be a big big battle.
I just thought it could be fun to bring that option to the table in here. Like one side gets 12 mechs and the other side gets 1 loaded drop ship including the ship. Make the #s whatever they need to be to make it fair to both sides.

Depends on the dropship and the mission. A Fortress or an Overlord belongs in the midst of a fray: the Leopard does not. By the same token, a fortess is a bit much for a quiet planetary raid.
The idea of an LZ overrun/defense scenario sounds juicy. There would be an interesting set of restrictions and goals for each side!

Yeah, it has the makings of a pretty awesome scenario. For instance "your dropship has experienced complete power failure and must complete a cold startup before it is able to depart, and enemy forces are closing in" you'd have to defend the dropship, it would slowly regain weapons systems as the startup progressed until a set time when it would be ready to jump, and the defenders would have to strategically fall back and board at that point . . . it definitely has potential.

This time period it was considered taboo to attack dropships as they were very expensive and hard to come by, technology having gone back that far..they were still made but by fewer manufacturers than in the golden age of the star league. Also..Attacking one powered up..would pretty much guarantee the end of your life if it hit you..as long as you couldnt get under its range and depending on the dropship

A leopard launching its two Shilone fighters to cover the landing and takeoff would be cool too.
