Okay, my first post here because I don't have time to get sucked in another time sink.

Simple idea, there's radar, mech status, enemy mech status, weapon list with ammo/recycle time, heat, coolant and jumpjet "levels", and maybe something I forget. And my idea is to be able to move them freely on our screen, and that's it.

tl;dr Do you want to be able to move HUD elements freely.

I want us to be able to enlarge the map a bit at least or maybe zoom in or out. That's all i really need.

A section in the options menu to move where the HUD elements are sounds good. The default layout might prove annoying or less than optimal.

Yes. Actually, I was thinking about this just the other day.
A Battlemech, being the "pinnacle of 31st century warfare", should be a highly customizable machine in terms of information accessibility.

+1 for customizable HUD layout.

Just the abilty for it to be swapped left to right for the South paw would be a boon...

As I've said numerous times before, I would pay for a customizable hud.

Why do we need a coolant display?

What I meant is something entirely else.

Yes... as long as once they've been moved from where they should be it looks like they were rigged up in a way they were not meant to be. (i.e. Duct taped to the new location)

Well in theory, the helmet the mech pilot wears should be advanced enough to be customizable, however it is better to assume that the military would have paid some scientist to figure out the best configuration and then locked the system down.
So, realistically, options like that are a no go. Gameplay wise, it would be nice, but not entirely necessary. So either way suits me.

The best configuration for one Mechwarrior may not be the best configuration for another. Just saying...

If you can move things to different monitors, you can move them around in general. It's a large case of the same issue.

actually its not that hard. they just have to code each element of the cockpit as its own window then it can be dragged and dropped anywhere on the desktop. 1, 2, or 3 monitors won't matter then. You get the customized UI people are begging for and the multiple monitors that other are asking for. Two birds one stone, damn I'm good

And then like most flight sims do, you have an option in settings to 'dock all windows' or whatever and possibly and option to 'hide window borders' like is coming in on a lot of games now, so those Luddites who don't want to move their controls around or run multiple monitor setups don't have to have any additional clutter.

From the perspective of any pilot I think most would like to change the interior layout to suit their preferences. I dislike how many developers talk about customizing your experience with weapons and perks but almost all games make you use a single user interface. I know this would be difficult to implement but it is something I am willing to get behind to see it become apart of the game.

Yes, being able to move HUD elements would be welcome. I'd also like to rescale their size.

tangent: Paul stated that there will be no coolant flush. Huzzah.

since they are all instruments and not just projections...no...
but what i would agree to would be, that you can switch which information is displayed on which "screen", f.e. let the damage indicator display the radar, and let the radar display target-info... i hope you get what i mean :)

hmm...maybe custom cockpits could be available, so you could choose from different "cockpit varients"... but id doubt that will happen too soon

you know guys, if a f16 pilot gets to fly a boing 747, he cant just simply throw all instruments around to match the f16 setup he is familiar with... Normally i´m a friend of custom UI´s (in RPG´s and FPS as well) , but in this case, i was very excited about the fact that there is no UI, but all instruments...I see MWO not as a shooter or something, i see it as a simulator

I want to make mine a mix of purple, green, and blue translucent lining on everything, depending on what part of the GUI it is.

And I want to make my map wider. lol
