One of my favourite mechs that I used when I played MA2. If This Mech would be available in MWO that would be so awesome. The mech(While slow which was characteristic of all assault class mechs) was such a beast and I would always own when I used it. The Plasma PPC's that it was equiped with were pretty powerful and worked pretty well. I dont know much about the whole mech timeline, but I would love if this was available(or atleast an older model was in use in the timeframe of MWO). I hope that the Ragnarok and Madcat/Timberwolf are playable as well.

The Blood Asp is a Clan 'Mech and is only introduced in 3059, so it will be a while yet before we get it. Note that while it's an excellent 'Mech, it probably won't be the same as in MechAssault, since that game departed wildly from BattleTech canon. For example, there's no such thing as a 'Plasma PPC' in the BattleTech Universe, and the Blood Asp is actually fairly fast for an Assault 'Mech.

The Mad Cat is also a Clan 'Mech, but it's already in service at the point of time the game takes place in and will probably show up way sooner than the Blood Asp; nearly certainly as soon as the Clan Invasion starts.

As for the Ragnarok, well, it doesn't exist outside of MechAssault, so it will most likely not show up in this game...

Blood Asp, per Sarna, has an introduction date of 3059. Current MW:O timeline is 3049. Two things have to happen before the Blood Asp could even possibly see the light of day.

Clans have to arrive (they're still a yearish out, depending on how PGI will handle them,) and wait 10 years in game time. :D

Way to ruin his day. I never played any of the Mech Assault games, so had no clue they were introducing non-canon mechs and weapons either. Makes me wonder what else they threw in.

They made IS and Clan designations into 2 different mechs entirely, so you had Mad Cats and Mad Dogs fighting against Timber Wolves and Vultures.

And sorry, but Blood Asp prototype is out of question. The mech uses much newer tech and would decimate the whole team single-handily.

That is just disturbing.

well if they left it as powerful as it was in MA2 of course it would(If it had alpha Strike then it would be OP because that ability pretty much one shots every mech in the game regardless of it is an assault class or not). I would assume that they would balance the Blood Asp Proto. so that it is balanced with the rest of the sandbox.

Spartan076, clear your mind of Mech Assault. Mechwarrior Online is nothing like that game. There are no special abilities for the mechs. Those where another concept only known to MA and not found in the rest of the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe.

An alpha strike as a term is known, but all mechs are capable of it. It means to fire all weapons at once.

I did like Mechassault *confession bear* But don't expect anything like that in MWO. It's best to keep things balanced and entirely skill-based. (My personal opinion do not flay me for it)

I remember the Blood Asp from MechCommander 2 since I barely played MA2 (MEH!) and never got into the MekPacks for MW4.

All I can say is that I remember being truly grateful I never had to fight one in the campaign.

Considering the 'mech is still 10 years out for production, you're probably looking at 7-8 years until a prototype is made (or even later, some might be developed faster due to the war.) Even so, there still are no Clans yet in MW:O and if there were a prototype, that means there's only maybe one or two of them...which would preclude anyone from owning one.

There's no offical word they're putting the blood asp in...

His question was would Blood Asp make it in.

The answer is simply "possibly as the mech is canonized by the tabletop"

If it's a canon mech it has a "chance" of making it in... that's all this thread has said.

The Mechassault Blood Asp was never canonized. The -name- was used for a Battletech design, and the two are visually similar in many ways- but the MA version, like virtually everything in MechAssault just plain never existed in the tabletop version. Visual comparison, BT vs MA version:
