For the record, not everyone has the same issues as Landsharkk. I have only had to reinstall after a patch once and that was about 3 months ago. It's been stable for me. Frame rates witha GeForce GTS 450 have been 17 to 24 under most game play condistions. No idea if that is good or bad for this card's power but it is very playable.

This is the reason I have asked for a refund of my founders package, and so far they are processing the refund. I REFUSE to pay for a beta test of any game (originally they stated that the premium time would start 'at launch', later they adjust this statement to say 'open beta', but not after thousands had already purchased a founders package). Never have in the past, never will in the future. I've never seen a game require the testers to pay to test. It's a disgrace to those willing to put up real money to help the game too.

Every game that I've been in that has needed to transition to a F2P model or started with a F2P model has needed to test their microtransaction process.

Besides the need to to check that transactions can even be made between the shop and the game in the first place, they need people to buy things to see where they need to set their prices. You don't just go in and blindly set the prices after the game is live and accidentally set a price too high or low and then try to explain to your customers why you need to change it afterwards. Testing the microtrans system not only gives the devs info on what prices to set, but also what people are willing to buy (and in what amounts and at what prices). You also can't simply go by just what people on the forums say they want because time and time again we see that forums DO. NOT. REPRESENT. the actual people playing the game. For this, you need to draw your info from an actual in-beta test of actual beta testers making actual purchases.

It gets boring quickly.

Last night was a typical one after months of playing this "boring" game...I stayed up an hour and a half past when I had said I was quitting and going to bed. LOL

I think that is a valid argument. I initially thought that way, but then I changed my mind. My thinking was, wouldn't I want to use my Premium and MC bonuses at the time when it was hardest to make money and when money mattered the most? At the beginning of Open Beta, I lose all of my mechs, cbills, etc. and need to earn them back to enjoy the game the way I want. At Launch, I should have so many mechs and cbills that the "premium" is close to worthless. So, I'd rather have it at the start of Open Beta. If I want premium at launch, I can always pay $$ then if needed and if I am still really enjoying this game that much at launch (hope so), I will have no problem dropping more $$.

Totally understand the other side of the argument, especially if you spent your $$ based off the "launch" info. Not trying to say that is invalid, just offering my changed view in case it helps.

Yeah, my friend was offering me the same viewpoint. Having Premium Time activated in Open Beta just seems like a Pay To Win element that will easily carry over into Live and make it very one-sided for those who haven't bought into the game and are starting fresh. It's a good way to push away potential investors/gamers for MWO. I really like the idea of starting on an even playing field where everyone has their set of things, and if you got founders, then voila, you do have a slight advantage due to the founder mechs, but that's it. No huge stash of C-bills, no expanded bay of diverse mechs. I always felt that Beta players should really only carry their experience in the game over as the primary advantage.

But I like my founder mechs too.

This is absolutely a terrible, terrible arguement. Think it through!

The "bonuses" that come with Premium Time are twofold: Extra CBills and Extra XP. Your goal should be to maximize the gain of those two items with your Premium Time, yes? I thought so too.

Therefore, if your Premium Time doesn't start until Community Warfare, you're actually not maximizing your Premium bonuses. When Community Warfare hits, you're going to be more focused on taking planets, defending planets and generally helping your chosen faction / team do well. That will mean fewer actual opportunities to apply those bonuses, since you'll be seeking specific situations to drop.

On the other hand, before Community Warfare, it's pretty much drop as much as you can as fast as you can because the results don't have any lasting impact. You'll get more opportunities to make money and XP *before* Community Warfare hits. Thus, your best opportunity to maximize your Premium Time is . . . . you guessed it . . . Open Beta.

Basically this. I'm loving the game, but I'd prefer the timer starts ticking when we go live and there are skins, factions, etc.

I think it wouldn't FEEL so PTW (note feel, it really isnt PTW), if the devs did 2 things:
1) Optimize the trial mechs for new players (weapon groups already set, max of 2 groups, better heat balance, lasers and lockon missiles only)
2) Optimize the matchmaking system so new players play new players.

The good news is that while the details of what is being done have not been stated, both of these items are being addressed in some manner soon.

Pit more skill and custom mechs against similar and teams vs teams and I think a lot of the PTW "feeling" will be decreased while still having an incentive for some of us to "buy" our way to better stuff than grind it which gives PGI $$ and makes the game successful.

BTW, did you call it a "cash grab" when Apple introduced the iPhone 3 and it had antenna problems? or were you just happy that they did right by their customers, and got the design right eventually.

Not everyone owns an iPhone nor is an Apple fan boy :)

They got the design right eventually? Oh right, they made the iPhone4 and told their cult worshipers customers to buy that too.
