Well, I had to ask.
In MW4 only the best of the breed played NHUA...we were kings, and campers and leggers got raped. NHUA Servers were most in abundance and always packed.

Wide open close quarters combat in arena format. That was our weapons testing and build out sandbox. Perfecting tactical team brawl matches to hone trigger skills and mechagility. That's a new word, I just made it up. You guys should write this stuff down cause I'm just getting started. Learn Mechagility! I should change my name to Mechagile... na. Give that name to the most fat, slowest AI mech... If any of you remember me from MW4, long distant team sniper strategies on wide open maps, picking mech's to pieces at 1000m with a barrage of controlled long range weapons loadouts, hunting in packs like wolves, we did. No rules. And never, ever bring a knife to a gun fight.

Has to be here, because Chuck Norris told me so.

NHUA represents everything that is wrong with Mechwarrior 4 and the way Microsoft developed it.

NHUA wasn't unique to MW4 (I am reasonably sure that MW3 and probably MW2 could do it too), but I agree with the point made - NHUA removes much of what makes MechWarrior different from "generic shooter" and "generic mecha game" and encourages 'Mech designs and playstyles more reflective of a "generic" game than of one set in the MW/BT universe.

Personally, I would prefer to see MWO remain a strictly HOLA-style game.

I'm sorry Grimm, I thought it was a general discussion topic regarding No Heat, Unlimited Ammo...or is NHUA a no no, don't go there topic?
More or less it was a general question to the development company addressed by myself, the general audience in the general discussion forum.

Hey, are you Grimm from MW4 NHUA?

GRIMMY... is that you? :D

I loved NHUA, it's where I played most of MW4. I only really got exposed to heat games when I joined BZ and MWL. Just meant I couldn't shoot as frequently, but I still managed to win just as frequently. Like I said in another post a few months ago, NHUA attrition meat grinder games were good at making you good. The sheer amount of shooting you could do in such a format made your raw skills pretty sharp. In regards to MWO, not sure how much I'd miss NHUA if it wasn't around, but I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Don't know what you're smoking, but NHUA servers were a camper's paradise - they could load up on as many ER PPCs and Gauss Rifles as they wanted without having to worry about silly things like extra ammo or heat sinks. Toss on some jump jets (The Gladiator was - bar none - the most common 'Mech around, with the Black Knight coming in second) and you had the cheapest pop-tart 'Mech in history. Matches were reduced to cover-based combat, with one-hit-kills on anyone stupid enough to actually try playing the game the way it was meant to be played.
On the rare occasion where that was NOT the case, it would the turn into... Matches without cover, where you were one hit killed if you were stupid enough to exist. Or, if you were too fast to hit easily, you were legged and killed with a second salvo before you could even think about getting up. Wee...

pro tip, if youre mech requires heat off and unlimited ammo to be viable, your design is *****.

lasers dont use ammo, but they run hot, cannons dont run hot, but use ammo, and weapons of various ranges are required for max effect.

ps the game is set in 3049 and runs in real time, the previous mech games are all years ahead of where we are starting, clan wars havent happened yet, let alone jihad tech and such.

I have no qualms against this... as long as they keep as far away from me as possible. Some people prefer to play outside long established BT rules, but I am not one of them.

NH UA was the epitome of bro shooter, crapping all over the difference between a good game and a popular one. But hey, some people like to disregard the challenges of driving a 'mech in favor of the poptart 5xERPPC/Gauss alpha strikers. Who needs walking when you can just jump around in your assault 'mech?

only 5 er ppcs? in mech 3 i had an 11 erppc daishi with full armor, no alphas though, had to chain fire them (legal version of the sparkler hack, since i still had heat from useing them, i just had to keep my mech cooled)

They were always packed because some player didn't want to have to worry about ammo and heat so it's increadibly simplified. How can players claim to be the best of the breed if they aren't willing to balance heat and ammo?

So basically minmax your mech without any limitations like heat or ammo meaning you can strip off those superfluous extra tons of ammo and tonnage hogging heatsinks so you can max out armor/speed and stuff the heaviest weapons on the mech for the fastest kill. How is that skill? I really do hope NHUA stays in it's grave. Yeah, I used to love doing that, but now I realize having to take those two things into account made designing my mech that much more of a challenge to make it excel and thus more fun.

If NHUA games would gain you no xp/c-bill (or, severally reduced xp/c-bills), I'd be ok with NHUA being available as an recreational mode option.

NHUA should earn 0% reward XP and 0% C-bills, and you still have to buy back the ammo you used.

OR you should be charged an XP/C-bill fee for wasting the server bandwidth on such a retarded gamemode.

Well since we're exhausting productive discussion here and pretty much everywhere else on these forums, I think I'm going to stick mostly to the Merc Corps forums again.
