Hmm.

Well, I much prefer the art direction and overall vibe of hawken. It's just a better realised world. The mechs are definitely light and fast so in that sense it reminds me of heavy gear. Saying much else will break NDA...

Biggest problem is that I can't get a playable framerate no matter what I do. Much much worse than MWO. I'm hoping that's mostly because it's still alpha.

I wouldn't say I prefer either game at the moment though as I said hawken looks far, far better graphically. That's icing though.

Are you sure? You might want to take a closer look at their graphic and objects in their game. Just stop playing and look at the details, you'll notice something wrong.

I've tried it for a bit, it's very different from MWO, it focuses more on speed and fast reaction than on tactics which Mech-games should be about, if you are more into First person shooters like CoD, but you need something refreshing than Hawken might be your thing, I wouldn't suggest MWO unless you're more into simmulation/tactics/domination by cockpit control.

To me MWO gives more satisfaction, because you get the feeling, you accomplish something when you reach your goal, you're more immersed, while Hawken is more a play and go kind of game, which is more about fast decisions without needing to have a real strong strategy

If Mwo and Hawken were cars:

Hawken would be a fast corvette, while Mwo would be an allroad Suv Humvie.

I wish them luck of not having to deal with stupid "reviewers" like we do.

Well, It definitely looks pretty. Though, frankly, when I'm in the mood for extremely fast-paced gameplay, I just play Tribes:Ascend. MW:O covers a completely different niche. Therefore, I can gravitate freely between the two without feeling like I'm playing the same type of game constantly. So, I think I'm going to pass on Hawken, at least for now.

Not making a choice here, but I think I'll stay with MWO atleast.

To be honest Hawken is still in Alpha 2 and it's to soon to give a final verdict, however the feeling I have with Hawken is that it is too "ready to play", where MWO is more about customizing to your needs in order to be really ready for battle, MWO is much more "mechanical active"than Hawken, I miss that with Hawken....

The maps look/feel like "Hot Wheels" city sets, I mean like big city blocks (I already had this feeling from watching the trailers to be honest).
A corridor type of gamplay like mentioned before.

This doesn't mean I don't like Hawken, I just miss the open world more.

Comparing Alpha to Closed/Semi-Open BETA, haven't we done this before?

Also, they are 2 VERY different games, they both have mechs...after that, not much in common.

I tried Hawken, but prefer Mechwarrior. Hawken looks good, but it plays like a regular first person shooter.
You die really fast. A mech should be able to soak damage and go down eventually.

So I am going to stick to mechwarrior.

I think its a good idea to try something else, But as for me I have been waiting on this game for a long time its here and so far its has been great !! compared to Mechwarriors 2-4, MechPak 1&2, BlackNight, Mercenary this game is a home run. They can add so much here from Battle-tech Universe and then adding the history and spin-offs and battles from the different factions man I cant wait.
I am going to try to help give as much POSITIVE feed back as possible so that the game will be great after you come back maybe the developers will reward us with Modules or a Assault Mech for 90 days before releasing to the public. :P But for me I am home.

PS I am a avid StarTrek On-line Player but these days not as much. ^_^

Agreed on this one. Paper armor mechs just don't feel right. Would be a waste of money to even make mechs if they were this fragile, just put a bunch of guns on way cheaper tanks if they're going to die in 1-2 hits anyway. MWO's double armor is one of the best decisions I've seen people make with the franchise so far.

And Hawken... looks fine (or "competent"), but I stopped caring for Quake a decade ago :P . Not for me.

When/if you get in, mind popping an update here if the promocode still works?

Derp. I just now noticed the promocode was removed from the topic.

Anyways, it was "alphadog"
