I know that the dates of mech releases depend on the timeline, which is why we won't be seeing a mech like Uziel for 10 years or so. But what about variants? Will they also be released as the timeline goes on? As far as I'm concerned, as long as future variants have electronics and weapons consistent with the time period, they should be released immediately.

The prototype Bushwacker appears in 3053, but I don't think I could wait another 2 years for my beloved BSW-S2 variant.

I can only assume the answer is yes.

As they have said new tech will be introduced as the timeline dictates it.

So why would variants be introduced ahead of schedule.

With the timeline, the devs have a solid and consistent basis for their actions. It will make their jobs easier since everyone knows what to expect. I, for one, hope they maintain the timeline as it provides a fairly reasonable basis for the introduction of new technology (and gives them the time to really do the job right). Patience is a virtue, and anticipation is a joy. The shiny new toys will come.

It also gives each tech-release time to bed in & any issues to be resolved long before the next tech-release goes live. Saves compounding balance issues.

I believe for the most part they will have time skips so new tech and mechs can be seen on a regular basis. I don't think they will happen often, just enough to keep thing moving.
