[CODEX READOUT:]
Gene Parents: Star Commander Olivia Vickers of Clan Wolf / Point Commander Duncan Crow, Clan Wolf Bondsman of Clan Snow Raven
Generation#: N/A [FREEBORN]
Blood House: Vickers
CodexID: 17WM55SR05WF
Birthplace: Clan Wolf base on Circe
Name: Snow
Callsign: Montage Maniac
DOB: 1, November, 3024

Description:
[ESTIMATED MATURED GROWTH] HT: 6' 1"; WT:185 lbs; Hair: Brown; Eyes: Brown/Green

MedTech Birth Report, 30241101:

Star Commander Olivia Vickers underwent labour October 31st, 3024, at 2234 hundred hours. Point Commander Duncan Crow was present during the procedure, with minor complications, but ultimately a nominal birth. Star Commander Olivia Vickers has insisted she return to active duty once dismissed from the medical facility, however, it is in this MedTech’s professional opinion that she remain off-duty for at least a month to recover.

The freeborn child has been submitted to the normal battery of testing, and all statistics show strong vitals. Assessment of child’s position within the Clan is to be determined within a month.

Circe Placement Facility 30310612
Head Department Scientist Report:

Snow has impressed many of the trainers at the facility. His induction into the Warrior training program was a surprise to most, and the Solahma trainers, when not ridiculing the youth as a “freebirth”, or manipulating the other freeborn applicants into challenging the boy in the Circle of Equals, have been heard to praise his abilities. Many wonder if he is not in fact a dezgra trueborn in disguise.

However, they do not have the birth report I have within his file, clearly describing his birth by the esteemed Star Captain Olivia Vickers. While it is still too early in the training to be certain, trainee Snow has every indication of a ristar, but no one would dare say such a thing given the simple fact that he is a freeborn.

This trainee warrants careful consideration. Perhaps the Vickers gene is strong, even outside of a eugenics program, or perhaps it is the combination of the Crow gene as well. Something to consider to be certain. A combination of two exclusive genes could never be possible, but as a freeborn, there is nothing betraying the parents honour in this.

The time is 1500 hours, and this ends report 1B-13 of freeborn trainee Snow.

Watch Early Conditioning Notes:

The freeborn subject Snow has come to our attention by way of an agent on Circe. Regardless of lineage he would be a prime candidate for our operation, but given the genetic traits typically attributed to one such as he, we may have found a superb candidate.

Mother was the late Star Captain Olivia Vickers, who led her Trinary to a glorious victory against the Star Adder’s in a trial of possession, and while it led to her untimely demise, her gene legacy will likely be used for many sibkos in the future. Her partner, Scout Star Commander Duncan Crow was instrumental in determining the Star Adder’s position, and then performing hit and run tactics throughout the entire engagement.

It should also be noted, that upon Star Captain Olivia Vickers death, Star Commander Duncan Crow stood by his fallen superior, and fought off any and all foes attempting to advance, in a Storm Crow of all ‘mechs. This mix of Snow Raven commitment and resourcefulness, and Wolf (frankly Widowmaker) tenacity could prove to be an asset we cannot afford to lose.

Official training records describe trainee Snow with the typical trueborn bias towards freeborn, rating him as passable for a mechjock, but useless against any real trueborn warrior. However, according to our sources within the facility, this boy would be the prize point of any star.

The boy is 10, and still has much to learn and accomplish, but I would strongly recommend he be sent to our operatives in the Inner Sphere along with the others upon their next pick-up.

MedTech Devon:

Wolf Cub Snow, another recent youth released to us from Clan space has completed his initial battery of testing. He checks out physically and mentally, with not much to report. He appears to be quieter than most other cadets. Not as rigid as many of the trueborn trainees, and much quieter than most freeborn warrior trainees.

I recommend we begin integrating the trueborn and freeborn trainees together so we can begin establishing rapport amongst them. If we are to accomplish our goals, it may be prudent to begin this process before their training as warriors is completed.

BWMC Command Post Medical Files 30360617
MedTech Devon:

Wolf Cub Snow has been admitted to the infirmary today due to the Wolf Cub Naga incident as well.

I had to attend to both cubs in the same room and was concerned a fight may break out again given the incident. However, there appeared to be no aggressive tendencies between Cub Snow and Cub Naga. Once I dismissed Naga, I asked the typically quiet Snow what happened.

He simply stated that many of the other trainees began to fight with Naga, and Snow decided the dishonor in joining the fray would be negligible considering no one declared a trial of grievance. He looked me squarely in the eyes then, and clenched his jaw, “only fools fear the truth.”

After dismissing Snow from the Medbay, I walked out into the hall and saw a dozen injured trainees, all in worse shape than Naga or Snow had been. Apparently these were the ones who attacked Naga, and they refused to be in the same room as the freebirth and the hybrid.

Black Widow Company Trainer Report:

We’ve brought the cubs to the secluded and isolated Zeta Training facility on Outreach. Since arriving in the Inner Sphere, Wolf’s Dragoons have integrated many Inner Sphere freeborn into our ranks, and we train our recruits from clan space at this location to keep our identities a secret from our Inner Sphere brethren.

While we normally have the difficult task of training hormonal and aggressive cubs into mechwarriors, Black Widow Company has also been given the un-enviable task of breaking clan habits from these pups so they can better integrate into Inner Sphere battlefields. Natasha has been showing more patience with the wolf cubs than I could imagine, but that doesn’t stop her from breaking a few of their forearms or collar bones during circle of equals bouts.

There is much individuality in this group from Clan space. Everything from trueborn with convoluted codices, to unique freeborn who passed to enter warrior training. Some seem more suited for this section of space than others. Wolf cub Snow’s file is one of particular interest. I’ve noted his scores, and have recommended to Colonel Natasha Kerensky that we place him with our scout lance (soon to be scout star) for training.

We’re looking to outfit a 2nd line Raven or Wolfhound for the pup’s use. Can’t be giving him a Stormcrow in the Inner Sphere, now can we.

Gunnery Sergeant Franks Notes:

Mechwarrior-Apprentice Snow was transferred to Black Widow Company’s scout lance under the command of Lieutenant Pietro ‘Mikalovich’, callsign: Yellowjacket. Snow showed promising skill as a scout, and it is the intention of the company to give him some field experience with the Black Widows’ before returning him to the Black Wolves regiment. We’ve been receiving, what I would call, anxious communications from Black Wolf command “requesting” that we return Snow to their roster to complete his training.

Looking at his report and reading between the lines, I’d say this kid is being fought over, and ol’ Pietro has stolen the pup in his jaws to try and win him over to the Dragoons. Alas, it looks as though Lieutenant Lucian ‘Powers’ of the Black Wolves Recon Lance will be having words with Pietro upon the scout lance’s return.

Gunnery Sergeant Franks Notes:

The return of Black Widow Company’s scout lance to the facility after their 2 week training exercise resulted in an immediate challenge between Lieutenants Lucian and Pietro over Mechwarrior-Apprentice Snow’s placement. When all was said and done, Lieutenant Lucan was successful in claiming Snow as the prize. No serious injuries were incurred, except for Yellowjacket’s pride of course.

Lieutenant Lucian Powers has organized a free-for-all tussel among the Wolf cubs tomorrow to establish role designations and temporary lance placement under his command. It’ll be interesting to see what all this “Inner Sphere” training has done to the pups.

Tactical Officer Renee Millagan's Notes:

During our latest tactical session, we examined the Dragoons invasion of House Steiner’s BattleMech factories on Hesperus II in 3018. It was impressive to note the strategic analysis by both Alaric and Snow of the situation. Alaric was able to devise a strategy that could very well have prevented the number of losses that were sustained in that failed invasion, and possibly even turned the tide.

The reason I mention this last statement is due to Snow’s additional comments to the strategy session. I was completely caught off guard by how un-clan-like his notion was. He surmised that for an accurate intel account of the situation on Hesperus II, it may have been prudent to deploy a scout lance ahead of the force, using a Leopard dropship to best avoid detection. This force would function as an intel gathering lance primarily, and shift it’s priorities to scout once the main force arrived. This would allow the terrain to be properly mapped, drop points established, pre-invasion guerilla raids and sabotage missions carried out.

Altogether, the combination of Snow’s patient and methodical approach to intelligence gathering and subterfuge, and Alaric’s cunning and sound tactical acumen bring me hope regarding this new generation of mechwarriors.

Lieutenant Lucian 'Powers’ Notes:

Mechwarrior-Apprentice Snow has demonstrated a keen understanding of mech operations and an advanced knowledge of maintenance and modular adaptation. He will be a fine addition with the other apprentices once they graduate from the training. I consider it ironic that one of the key traits which allows him to be such a great candidate for a scout is also what makes him most trying at times. He is patient beyond normal clan standards, perhaps even beyond Inner Sphere standards. It makes it difficult to comprehend his motivations, but I have no doubt that he wishes to find his place amongst his fellow apprentices.

There are few freeborn within this young cadre we brought from clan space. We were dangerously close to losing him to the Dragoons early on, but I intervened before his training with them could go much further. Regardless, I have to say that his brief training with Black Widow company has only improved his skills and understanding of the Inner Sphere. But the matter has been dealt with, and we must look towards our mission, as the Great Father wills.

Historical Analyst Peters report:

Today I received an odd visitor in the form of Mechwarrior-Apprentices Snow. Typically I would never think to see a warrior in these archives, as they are typically found with Tactical Officer Millagan in a separate wing.

My guest however had very specific requests, into material that does not always lead to a place where Warriors are supposed to find themselves. I understand any Clan-members interest in their bloodheritage, but to look so far back into the Vickers blood legacy, and to find anything on the Crow bloodline…

I have not determined whether I will bring this to the attention of Black Wolves command or not. For the time being, I will help the young pup with his research, for I don’t see any treacherous intention in his young eyes. Just curiosity.

Black Wolves Simulation Analyst Jenkins Notes:

The past few simulations run by Gunnery Sergeant Franks have yielded interesting results which I am eager to share with the Commanding Staff.

It would appear that the past few years of training have produced well trained, and promising apprentices, but few of those from clan space seem to be adapting to the very team-focused tactics utilized within the Inner Sphere. There is still a tendency for individual warriors to pick and choose single targets to attack.

In our constant lance rotation of apprentices, the only combination we found to break this pattern in an effective manner was primarily with Mechwarrior-apprentices Alaric, Naga, and Snow.

These three formed a unit quicker than the others, and adapted based on their skillset and mind-frame. Alaric would be appointed Lance commander and take charge of the battlefield to determine the best course of action. Snow would take point as scout and insure proper intel was relayed back to his lance-mates. Naga would largely take the role of protection for Alaric, to an amazing degree frankly. The only thing truly missing from this arrangement is a strong assault point, someone to take advantage of all the intelligence being gathered by apprentice Snow. If a warrior can fill that spot effectively with this core group, they will be one of our more effective lances in this new crop.

Col. Natasha Kerensky’s Personal log:

Today a little pup wandered away from his pack to find himself outside my quarters. The Black Wolves stray, Snow is his name, had snuck out of the Zeta Testing Facility, “appropriated” a Raven ‘Mech, and found himself here without alerting any of the sentries, including my own Black Widow Company.

This was the pup Yellowjacket had been going on about a year or so ago, before he lost him to the Black Wolves.

I cannot dismiss the notion that this young-one may have been sent from the Clan Worlds to kill me for some reason. The Watch have been known to do far more dishonorable things in the past.

But no, this was not the youth’s intention. His bravery, or stupidity, inspired me enough to listen to his questions rather than turn him over to the security force immediately. Anyone who could sneak by my company deserved that at least.

As it happens, he had very interesting questions to ask me indeed. It is not widely known, suspected, but never confirmed, that I have Widowmaker genes mixed within the sibko that I belonged.

I was part of an experiment, to create a vicious commander, with the tactical skills of Kerensky, and the ruthlessness prone to Widowmaker clanners. Vickers was mixed into my sibko, and not of a diluted Wolf warrior either, but from the last few samples of Widowmaker genes, from the Vickers bloodheritage.

Snow showed me his codex. He was no trueborn, but his biological parents would be the envy of any science caste eugenics programmer. Widowmaker and Snow Raven…

He was confused, and ashamed to show as much in front of me, as he should be given my rank and status. The clans abhor weakness, there is no doubt in our legacy, no time to second-guess who we are. But, unlike most Clan Wolf warriors, I could understand his turmoil.

I gave him the words he needed. He was a warrior of Clan Wolf, as was I. The Widowmakers were no more, we are their legacy, meant to redeem their name through our actions, to prove that their blood was never tainted or cursed, that OUR blood will not betray the wolf, or the Great Father’s vision. His mother proved this upon her death. His father, though not originally from our Clan, also proved his devotion to those he called brothers, and the mate he lost that day.

Aff, when the time comes, and it will come soon, the Clans will come, and we must stand with them. The Inner Sphere will be prepared, Jaime will insure that. I already know what will happen when that day comes, and I wish there were a way to change things, but there isn’t.

I sent young Snow off with my words, my confidence, and my vow that we are Clan Wolf, now and since the day we were born. He may be a freeborn, but he has the capacity to overshadow that status the Clans foolishly make.

I let him leave without telling him the whole truth however, as the Black Widow reveals everything to no one. Not even the Watch who read this report entry without my consent, but certainly with my awareness. But this point is harmless for them to possess. Vickers was the paternal gene introduced to my sibko, but I learned that nearly 30 years after my sibko, before I left for the Inner Sphere, and largely based on the success of my career as a warrior, the Vickers gene was introduced again into the mix, this time as the maternal gene.

Olivia Vickers was the result of that sibko, and I doubt the source of her genes is widely known, probably only to the Watch I imagine, quiaff?

That would make that young pup my nephew after a fashion, quiaff? Perhaps it is my time spent in the Inner Sphere, absorbing their customs. Or maybe it is the passing of Joshua, I do not know. I look forward to hearing of Snow’s exploits regardless.

Have at this report as you will Watch Surat.

Gunnery Sergeant Franks Notes:

We put the little ******** through the wringer today. It may have been a little unfair, but they needed to get a taste of that sooner rather than later. After moving to the main base at the end of August of last year, the cubs have needed to interact with actual Inner Sphere warriors, and for the most part have been passing off admirably.

Our CO Col. Reginald Jenkins decided to take a personal interest in instructing the young pups to really determine who was worthy of being a mechwarrior. Col. Jenkins became our CO after “Captain” Fabien Fetladral died with many Wolf’s Dragoons warriors during the botched raid on the Kurita-held world of Murchison early last year. He was assigned by Jaime Wolf to the Black Wolves company, and must be aware of our true origins. Lieutenant Lucian has been particularly suspicious of Col. Jaime’s motivations, but has been quiet and played the part of a committed lance leader.

For the simulation exercise, the apprentices were placed into lances and given the task of escorting a convoy from Waypoint Alpha to Waypoint Beta. However, this test was a modification of the “La Mancha” scenario from the Nagelring. Each apprentice lance was provided the choice of a medium or light mech. The opposing force, led by a combined party of the Black Wolves and Black Widow companies, would outnumber the apprentices 4-1 in numbers, comprising of assault or heavy chassis.

None of the apprentices won the scenario. It should be noted that apprentices Alaric, Naga, and Snow among others did surprisingly well. They were able to use their mechs to their full advantage and bring down nearly 1/4 of the forces opposed them. The most remarkable thing however is their commitment to protecting the convoy. Not a single vehicle was destroyed under their protection before the mechs they piloted became inoperable.

While Col. Jenkins used the fact that none of the apprentices accomplished their mission to demonstrate their inexperience and “lackluster” skills, it is clear to this Gunnery Chief that we do in fact have some very talented pilots amongst our group.

Mech Tech Powell {Covert Watch Operative} Update Report Transcription:

It has been difficult to provide more frequent reports on my assignment with the Black Wolves company. Since our arrival in the Inner Sphere, Star Captain Fabien Fetladral has been killed during a joint operation with the Wolf’s Dragoons, and our new CO has been assigned from Jaime Wolf’s command chain. The Black Wolves are no longer being led along the path we outlined.

We are scheduled for 2 more reinforcement attachments before the invasion begins, and they will not be able to happen while the current CO is in power. Kerlin Ward has been sure to instill his Warden views with the Dragoons I fear. There is no way to rely on their support any longer, and I fear they seek to absorb the Black Wolves into their control before long.

It is this operative’s recommendation that we take- {pause}. This line is no longer secure, I am tracking an unauthorized access from the BWMC base. Activating a crash protocol. Who is doing this?!

{pause}

Crash protocol successful. The connection on the other line is terminated. Access point was from the main compound. It would appear one of the wolf cubs went searching for me without realizing what he was looking for. Apprentice Snow, that freebirth. I understand the reasoning for bringing him with this contingent, but he’s an abomination of the Clan’s ways.

{pause}

I will strike that previous comment from the record. It is unbefitting a Watch agent. The line is secure again and I will resend this communiqué.

I will report again in three months time. Powell out.

MedTech Devon Autopsy Report:

This is the official autopsy report for Battlemech Technician Powell. It will remain separate from the Wolf Dragoon’s official records so as to maintain the secrecy of the existence of the Clans.

MechTech Powell suffered severe nerve damage when a live conduit came in contact with the palm on his right hand. He was not wearing the regulation discharge glove, nor was he properly equipped to handle an electrical current of that magnitude from running through his body.

Death was instantaneous, and foul play is not considered to be relevant to this case. Tech Powell was providing repairs to one of the second-line Ravens placed in the care of one of our Mechwarrior-apprentices.

Our records show no family or connections back in Clan space to notify, and from all accounts it would appear that he kept mostly to himself while in the Inner Sphere.

My report will conclude once I have finished inspecting the rest of the body, but as of right now I see no need for further investigation.

Autopsy report part 1 end

{{Watchaddendum}}

Powell’s death shows no indication that our motives have been revealed. We should send a team to ascertain the Black Wolves situation, and then move according to our schedule.

BWMC Union Class Dropship, inbound to Aswan, Capital of Caph, Federated Commonwealth space, 30390814

Lieutenant Lucian 'Powers’ Log:

Today is a momentous occasion in the young pups lives. They will finally see live action as an attachment to my command. I’ve brought 3 lances as a relief force for Wolf’s Dragoons on Caph.

Initial reports show that the DCMS are making their strikes from the continent of Steam. It is mostly thick vegetation, with the most dangerous wildlife by far being the Dinosaurs which inhabit the planet, many as large as our own battlemechs.

We have successfully triangulated their base of operations within an 8 km zone and have been ordered to carry out joint operations with Natasha Kerensky’s Black Widow detachment.

I have brought along as many of the young pups as we could afford without jeopardizing our combat efficiency. I will lead a lance with Tyrone Ward as my second, with support provided by Alaric and Naga.

Our second scout lance will be led by Russell Brown, and includes Jerome as his second, with pups Snow and Michael in support. Russel is one of our best light pilots, and Jerome often partners to provide support fire for the company, so it is my hope this pairing compliments both of the pup’s strengths.

The third lance will be led by Duncan Connors, with Justin as his second, and the pups Lincoln and Umbra.

We are scheduled to arrive within Caph’s orbit within 3 days from the jump point. The 3rd Crucis Lancers are stationed in a military base just outside the capital city of Aswan. We are to land in the hot zone, and engage the enemy forces, and then proceed to push onwards to their main base on the continent of Steam to push them off-world.

Enemy forces have been identified as the Ryuken-ni and Ryuken-san, the DCMS units formerly trained by the Wolf’s Dragoons during their contract with the Draconis Combine.

This will be the perfect testing ground to see how our pups fare against some of the Inner Sphere’s best warriors.

Entry for mission log of Lt. Lucian Powers complete.

Caph, Military Base outside Aswan, 30390818
Holovid Record: BWMC Mech Pilot Apprentice: Snow; Mech: RVN-3L

Grid H6;

EXT. NIGHT. –MILITARY BASE OUTSIDE OF ASWAN

The terrain is desolate and barren, with minor tropical vegetation growing. Ruined ferro-crete buildings litter the landscape.

Aswan is the largest urban center on Caph, but since the fall of the Star League and the previous bombardment of nuclear weapons on the planet it has been a great struggle for the local population.

Since First Price Hanse Davion’s rule, Caph has begun to rebuild its industrial complex and urban infrastructure. The Federated Suns moved its Ministry of Foreign Relations to Caph due to flow of information regarding the Lyran Commonwealth. It is a strategically key world in linking The Federated Suns with the Lyran Commonwealth, and thus a prime target of both nations foes.

A Raven battlemech bobs through the landscape, running well over 100km/hr from one gutted ruin to the next. The pilot keeps as much ferro-crete rubble between its pursuing foe and the already blistered and pocked armor on the ‘mech’s chassis.

MECHWARRIOR SNOW pilots the Raven, scouting for his lance through Grid H6 as his lance commander explores another section.

SNOW

Richard, I have garnered the attention of an Atlas, AS7-D variant in H6.

Snow consulted his Nav-map and reviewed his location, quickly scanning the field.

SNOW

I will lead him from my current position to E5. That will give you approx 4 clicks to meet at Echo-5, at which point I will swing back to target his rear armor, quiaff?

Snow pulled out from his cover accelerating as quickly as possible. Just a hair after he left cover the ferro-crete behind the Raven exploded into dust as an AC20 round demolished what was left of the ruin.

Snow rotated the Raven’s left torso to face the rear, protecting his rear-armor, and to get eyes on the Atlas coming up from the rear.

With the enhanced optics and electronics package in the Raven, Snow was able to make out the charcoal gray paint scheme of the 100-ton mech, with the insignia of a dragon curling around a katana on its left thigh, and an emblem of a snarling leopard in a samurai helm on its left shoulder actuator.

SNOW

Confirmed, Ryuken-ni Atlas, likely caught en-route to other area of battlefield. The rest of his lance is close by somewhere.

Snow increased the pace of the Raven, pushing it past 120 kph, The Atlas began to unleash it’s LRM’s on the Raven, warnings blaring within the cockpit.

Snow fired his medium lasers at a ruined wall of a warehouse before piloting his Raven through the structure. He could hear the LRMs impact right above his head, the warehouse beginning to collapse around him.

The Raven burst through a hole on the other side and continued on his path to his next nav point. He was about to exit G6 when a Charcoal Gray Dragon came into view from one of the side streets a short distance right in Snow’s path.

SNOW

Contact, Dragon, 1-Nova variant. Both enroute to Echo-5.

Snow engaged his jumpjets and arced his mech over the Dragon just as it was twisting its torso to unload its AC5 and twin Medium Lasers into the Raven’s front torso.

Snow maneuvered the Raven to land on top of a warehouse and continued to run, the Dragon shifting and beginning the chase.

The Dragon continued to fire at the fleeing Raven, but Snow piloted his mech between ruined buildings, using his jump jets to avoid lengthy detours.

SNOW

Zellbrigen has been broken. As we knew it would.

He reached E6 with the Dragon hot on his trail, the Atlas moving up the rear, firing LRM’s whenever it had a lock. The Dragon was bringing its AC5 up to fire at Snow’s Raven when it was rocked backwards, stalling its stride slightly by 2 UAC5 shells to its right torso.

Snow immediately pulled off his course and down an alleyway, using the surprise attack to circle around the dragon and begin his own assault.

Snow quickly glanced at his Navcom and saw Michael’s Catapult register in E5, sniping away at the Dragon with his UAC5’s.

Snow moved into position behind the Dragon as it was still searching for the direction of the more dangerous threat. He locked on with his Raven’s streak SRM2’s and 2 Medium Pulse Lasers and began to unload into the Dragon’s right arm from behind.

Moderate damage was done to the arm, but Snow was able to pierce the Dragon’s right torso which seemed to house to AC5’s ammo reserve. The shells began to explode within the Dragon’s chassis, with the pilot ejecting as the Dragon went critical.

Snow circled back around to find the Atlas in F6, continuing to lumber forward. It spotted Snow’s Raven and unleashed with its LRM’s again. It appeared to be just out of range of Michael’s UAC5’s, but as Snow kept the Atlas in sight he moved through the buildings to try and avoid most of the missile’s damage.

Once Snow found the Atlas again, he noticed another flight of LRM’s in the sky, except this volley was heading towards the Atlas. They rocked the Atlas as it was lumbering forward, it’s left arm was blown clear off its body.

Snow ran straight forward towards the Atlas, using buildings and ruins for cover, and circled around the 100-ton mech to begin firing at its weakened back armor.

The roar of UAC5 rang through the air as shells slammed into the Atlas’s center torso, rocking the mech back a little.

RUSSELL

Pup Snow, get your freeborn a*s*s* out of the kill zone. Meet me at the southern edge of Echo-6, we’ll let Jerome hammer him with another volley of LRM20 fire, then we’ll swoop in for the kill.

Snow fired off one more Streak SRM volley and 2 medium pulse laser shots into the back of the Atlas, and moved to the waypoint RUSSELL placed in his Navcom. No sooner had he left the area than two volleys of LRM20’s descended upon the Atlas, hammering down on the nearly wrecked mech.

Snow arrived at the coordinates and found the black and red Wolfhound belonging to Commander Russell Brown. Coming up behind him was the outline of Richard’s Catapult.

One more volley of LRM20’s descended on the Atlas.

RUSSELL

Aff, let’s go pups. Richard, you have been quiet all engagement, squawk a little bit on the comms so we know you are not dead. It is a waste of resources to go hunting for that Catapult for salvage if we do not need to, quiaff?

RICHARD

Aff Star Commander.

RUSSELL

It is Commander here, and he speaks! You aren’t mute after-all! Snow and I will engage in close, provide covering fire, should be able to use those medium pulse lasers too now that you aren’t safely 2 grids away. Move!

Snow moved his Raven in line with Russell’s Wolfhound and they circled back to pick at the nearly destroyed Atlas. Once they were in range, they began to flank the mech, firing at its torso. "MUTE" continued to fire with his UAC5’s, and it wasn’t long before the Atlas burst after being cored.

Russell’s lance gathered at E5 and moved to join up with the other Black Wolves in the area.

JEROME

Commander Brown, which one of our pups was dodging that Atlas’ fire within the ruins. His mech moved like its head was cut off.

Snow could hear the Commander and lance-mate laughing over the comms, even "Mute", despite his new call sign, chirped up with chuckles.

RUSSELL

Leave the pup be Jerome, wasn’t nearly as uncoordinated as that. He is a maniac to be sure, but not stupid. I am sure his holo-recorder would play back like an action movie. We should pop it in at base when we have cleaned up here.

JEROME

Aff, Commander. "Montage Maniac", the scourge of Caph.

The laughing continued over the comms, but Snow didn’t mind. He was even smiling.

BWMC Field Command, Aswan, Caph, Federated Commonwealth space, 30391002
Lieutenant Lucian Powers Log:

We’ve been ordered to support the 3rd Crucis Lancers on Caph while the Black Widow contingent moves off-world to continue hunting the Ryuken. The DCMS force did not leave Caph in good shape.

The First Prince would like Caph to be secured for the remainder of the war, and has entrusted my command with this task.

Caph is rebuilding, and our priority now has been to protect the populace from the Dinosaurs planetside, and possible invasion from off-world.

The pups faired well with this exercise. I’ve submitted a request to keep the trainees with my unit. We lost Duncan Connors from the third lance, and Jerome from the second before the Ryuken fully departed.

While I do not currently have the authority to do anything drastic, as I must obey our CO, Col. Jenkins, I intend on placing Alaric in charge as a temporary Commander, and allow him to create a lance of the pups. The remaining trainees will serve on cycling, allowing us to have 2 lances at full strength and 2 mech pilots in reserve.

As is traditional in the Inner Sphere, many of our young trainees have been given nicknames which they have taken on as their call signs.

It seems as though we will be on Caph for a number of months. I’ve scheduled training for the recruits until I receive word upon my requests from Command.

Lieutenant Lucian Powers Log:

First Prince Hanse Davion has called an end to the war. Our time on Caph has drawn to an end.

Our Dropship is prepping for dustoff with a Wolf’s Dragoon Jumpship 3 days away at full-burn.

Our casualties were light considering the intensity of our battles on Caph. Only 2 dead, and 1 injured. Tyrone Ward was caught in a fight with one of the larger Dinosaurs on Caph. He will not be piloting a mech anytime soon, but he can still bark instructions at trainees on Outreach.

All the trainees we came with have been promoted to active warriors due to their actions and skills in the war. We are proud to welcome them into the Pack, and upon their return to Outreach, Col. Jenkins will likely assign them to other units. I have recommended that Alaric be promoted to lance commander given his actions during the conflict. I am certain he will prove to be a valuable warrior in the pack.

He is a ristar if ever I saw one. We are leaving at 2100 hours, and I must see to final preparations.
