So, I should mention that I don't even intend to play Clan...okay ghost Bear when they get absorbed by the Space Vikings, but that isn't pertinent to this post.

We know/speculate that factions will have a loyalty system. Why not the same for Clan? At some point in the undefined future, you make an Iron Womb freak of nature and start getting Clan loyalty.

Back in the Cluster.

You need to prove that you are worthy to go to the Inner Sphere. Maybe top it off with a trail of Position where Zellbrigen must be observed.

The plus sides to this, as we know that some level of divergence from canon is possible, is that you can start in any Clan you chose (okay, Goliath Scorpion is pretty cool...maybe an alt freebirth...hmmmm).

Thought?

there's always a 'defecting' option where you can join the clans... restart as a bondsman and work your way up... I remember reading where a freebirth became a clan khan showing that it was the training, not the breeding tech, that made the clan better in combat.

Yeah both Kell did it for Wolves and I think the Preince of the FRR also did it for the Ghost Bears. Memory may be off, but it certainly could happen in some of the Clans.
