Well this certainly explains why the YLW sucks so bad. It's supposed to have a melee weapon, which given it's above-average speed would have been pretty useful. Instead it doesn't have that and has nothing else to make up for it either, and as a result is just garbage and a complete waste of the MC.

I actually really enjoy the ylw, got so used to it that its the mech i play the most. I can do 350-750 dmg per round on it, earn a ton of cbills and not feel like i am leeching:

DHS, Endo, Stnd. 250 engine (10 sinks going x 2.0), LB10-X with 4 tons ammo in the legs (not rearming), 2 x MLas, AMS with 1 ton ammo in the head. *strip 1 armor from each leg to fit*

Does 87.x km/h with elite, 10-X is easy to aim on the move (AC-10 can easily be swapped in by dropping 1 ton of ammo or ams), can zombie really well with 2 mlas in the center torso, big left arm to shield and heat is a non issue.

May as well leave the future ones in as choices. Eventually that tech is fair game to be added when the year arrives. I have my money on the Commando Freyr, The most Elite Commando ever.

Also, some of those custom variants are possible to make already (or close): For instance, I've already built a pseudo Jenner-K Samuli, an exact replica of the Hunchback-4G Shakir (its possible in game, try it), the Atlas-WGS.

Theres also a cataphract that would be eligible:

CTF-2X Cataphract George - Taking a 2X variant Cataphract salvaged after the 7th Crucis Lancers capture of Tikonov to replace his aging Warhammer, in the lead-up to the War of 3039 Fox's Teeth member George Lytton's Lucky Thirteen was outfitted with an experimental NAIS Mk. III ER Large Laser prototype to replace the standard model and corrosive coolant Double Heat Sinks[10]. BV (2.0) = 1,367[3]

The Danielle Atlas mod looks intriguing.

I voted for Something Else Entirely in addition to that. I'd like to see mechs that are very closely related to other mechs (same weight, same basic loadout, same basic appearance, and in many cases the same actual frame) but that lack sufficient variants of their own to be useable in MWO introduced as hero-mech-style variants. The Caesar for the Cataphract, the Katana for the Crockett, etc. Even better if they picked the color scheme used by a specific pilot of said mech (Marcus GioAvanti's Caesar, for instance).

Blazing Inferno - As of 3028, the techs on Chara III used this designation for a frequent field modification that removed both missile launchers from the COM-2D and exchanged them for three additional medium lasers to the right arm, right torso and head, six small lasers mounted in pairs on each leg and the center torso, and an additional ton of armor (+3 to each leg, +2 to the head, center torso and both torso sides, and +1 to each arm). The canonicity of this variant is questionable because its only source is BattleTech: The Crescent Hawks' Inception, a computer game.)

Sourced from Sarna.net

I know its not pure cannon, but i think it would also be cool for some of us who played the older games as well. A little nostalgia (probably mispelled that) never hurt anyone. Also, this is fairly unique in that its all energy, with lots of hardpoints. This will really appeal to people on a budget as the re-arm/repair costs will be minimal, and the purchase cost (in theory) will also be fairly light. Plus jenners/ravens have been getting enough love :)

No matter what they decide, I am eagerly awaiting to hear about any mech additions that will be coming up.

I would prefer the JR7-31P variant with the 8 energy hardpoints.

Strange locations for the hardpoints, though.

Necro thread is necro.....

Seriously though an Atlas hero with a ballistic mount in each side torso would be nice. Anything less than that would not be worth buying since I have the 7D founders mech.

Up till now, all Hero mechs are crappy designed compared to the ordinary mechs. The worst one is Death's knell. Only ILYA is OK! I don't encourage people to buy them!

I expect Hero mechs are more powerful than the regular ones.
