Tribes Ascend for all its faults/failings had some nice ideas, one of which is a Deal of the Day which each user gets offered - every day for a duration of 24 hours.

The idea is you get somewhere between 40%-75% off the "gold" (or MC in this case) price of items. Supposedly their system is supposed to notice what you like to do/how you like to play and offer you deals based on that but in any case I think something like this would be a good idea for MWO.

I know the devs want money, and people want to buy things maybe at discount/sale prices so something like this would be good. Plus it encourages someone to log in more regularly too, so the bean counters can use those stats for whatever beancounting reasons they need.

So... every day, user gets offered an item with variable discount up to 75% off the MC price. This could be normal mechs, hero mechs (maybe limit the max percent for those) and basically all the cosmetic items.

What do you think, would it encourage you to spend/buy some MC? I think I'd be tempted if I saw some cockpit items, camos etc for like 50%-75% off...!

I think two words cover how unbelievably well this strategy work, Steam sales.

I think weekend sales are probably fine, unless they have a quick and easy way to do this that doesn't involve a lot of manual work on their part.

There's 2 aspects here:

- how much off for me to consider it a good deal. This would have to be a deal that exceeded founders, which even the best current deal fails to do, in its money/MC conversion.

- it must exceed the founder's conversion on all purchase levels, even if the $9.95 purchase exceeded it by only 5%, and the highest level exceeded it by 25%.

I wasn't really looking to buy the $100 level of MC, but if they had something like 35-40k MC for $100, I might have a hard time resisting that deal.

Unfortunately, it seems they have to bring the game down (sometimes twice!) for each sale. That makes daily ones much less feasible, and points them towards weekly/weekend sales.

Aka valve robbing us blind? My wallet has barely recovered from the last sale and I've not even played all the games I bought yet.

Steam Sales are terrible on my wallet. I STILL have games lying unplayed from sales in 2011.

I would be more interested in a weekend sale where you have a couple days to get it. Right now, I think buying with MC is just too overpriced. If they gave you more (like double) MC for your buck or cut prices in half, I would buy on a regular basis. This seems like a good alternative.
