(by saying can anyone else see how Halo kinda stole ideas from Aliens?)

StarCraft stole from Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer 40,000 stole from Aliens, and Aliens stole from Starship Troopers. Lots of science fiction steals from other science fiction. It's really no big deal.

I think NameTheftVictim is referring to the novel Starship Troopers, not the movie.

Starship Troopers came after Aliens. Aliens was 1986 and Starship Troopers was 1997.

Pretty sure he's referring to the book by the same name that the Starship Troopers movie bastardized. It was published in 1959.

Bungie openly stated they used the second Alien movie for inspiration. However inspiration is far from stealing ideas, and in no way would I say that Halo ripped off Aliens.

The Pelican = the dropship in the movie 'Aliens'

I wouldn't say they are any more similar than your standard video game aircraft. If anything the pelican is a more realistic/aerodynamic design

The Pelican model originated from pieces of different military models (If I remember right the cockpit is from a AH-64 Apache model).
And yes, 40k stole from Aliens (Space Hulk anyone?) like everyone has done in the past thirty years.
'Starship Troopers' popularized the idea of 'Power Armour' like the Elemental Battle Armour, The MJOLNIR Mark V,Imperial Power Armour MK I-VIII,and the concept of 'Bug War' (Zerg, Tyranids, Flood, thank God no friggin aliens in Battletech, etcetera) so everyone stole from Heinlein.
Starcraft stole from 40k, and 40k adapted from Starcraft (Remember the old Tyranids? The new ones are modelled after the Zerg.Yep,sad but true.)
The director of the film adaptation of 'Starship Troopers' never bothered to finish the book, or so I've read.
Maybe a good thing, because a serious adaptation could quickly became tricky-the political system in Heinlein's book is quite fascist, but seen in a positive light. The film is campy, cheesy, worthy to watch only for a laugh.Avoid the sequels.
The main inspiration for Halo was the old game 'Marathon' from Bungie itself, a suprisingly good shooter that came out in the same age of Doom and plays like it was developed ten years later.
Everyone is stealing from everyone.
And, Darkfortune, no offense, this thread shouldn't exist.
