I heart the dragon, but after seeing the design of the warhammer in the video I voted for it.

If they re-designed the marauder to look more like the macross version, I might have voted for that one.

Tough choice. If I could, and the means given to me, I'd have chosen four: WarHammer, Marauder, Thunderbolt, and Crusader. The Marauder won out overall the other three.

My favorites stem from my time playing Mechwarrior. The Warhammer is the first truly powerful mech you ever get and it looks really baddass. The Marauder holds a special place in my heart as the mech I'd keep for endgame - I really loved it. The Archer on tabletop was pretty nice too.

Unfortunately, those are all unseen mechs. I feel compelled to bring up others.

I've grown up with the Battletech games, so, the Dragon was a bit of a bogeyman for me when I had to face it down with Jason Youngblood's two composite lances to bring it down. I wouldn't want to drive it as it doesn't appeal to me, but as a Battletech original mech it has a lot of presence.

I think, like others, I'd stick my favorite as the Catapult. It's the heavy mech that served me best thus far and I've quite a liking to it.

The Mad is my favorite, but as we are unlikly to see the "unseen" version I'll play a Ostroc when I can.

I'll go for the Catapult here.

LRM support mech with enough armor and secondary firepower to handle flanking and lights and some meds on its own. Awesome concept.

Yeah, but the catapult is just a stripped down madcat for all intents and purposes. If you are going heavy, might as well go all the way into the assault class. The jump jet issue for getting a good firing position is a decent point of argument, but if you are going to talk artillery support style of play, you might as well be loaded arrow IV style and firing indirect anyhow.

Personally, i've never been a fan of the stock mechs from the start. Many of them have interesting concepts behind them, but I always could build them better and I am sure most everyone else could say the same.

Also, i am more of a fan of the medium mechs. Lights tend to get swatted too easy and the heavies and assaults are just too slow.

This is a hard decision. I love the Warhammer, and I'm also a big fan of the Thunderbolt.

Hrm. I think the Warhammer just eeks it out though!

I voted for the Archer, with the T-bolt a close second. I went with the Archer thinking of the wolfs dragoons mod that moved the 2 rear mounted mediums to arms with the other 2 mediums. 2 LRM 20s and 4 medium lasers with good armor whats not to like. The Archer is also such a storied unit in the battletech universe being piloted by the likes of Jaime Wolf and Morgan Kell.

CRD-3D Crusader is my pick for best balanced 3025 heavy. I also like WHM-6D, MAD-3D, ARC-2R, and DRG-1G

Grasshopper... just because... Well.. i tend to try and make the other mechs more viable and i tend to play the less popular mechs to prove they are good too.

Tell me you did not just compare a level 1 tech fire support mech with self defense abilities to a (almost perfectly) min-maxed clantech mech with 10 tons extra weight...

Also I don't really care for arrows. Too heavy and big, lacking ammo, and way to much of a single purpose weapon.

Eheheh... good thing I got in here to vote and edge the 'Maud over the Whammy. :)

Both my hearts will be broken if there is no Marauder/WarHammer/Rifleman in this game.

Tho they will quickly mend and I'll play the **** out of it anyway.

Not to be "jumping on you" or anything, and although I respect your opinions... they're a bit out of place. The crux of the discussion was everyone's preference for "3025 Heavies", complete with poll.
Jumping straight to "I don't like stock Inner Sphere heavies" rather begs the response "Why bother posting in this thread?"

And don't be surprised if someone hits the "Because Assault Mechs Suxors!" button sometime hereafter. :)

I will agree with you though, medium mechs rock. (Although I typically pilot a Marauder <3 )

The Technical Readout: 3025 was like the nerd bible to me when I was ~9 years old. Used to flip back and forth through that just to read about the designs.

I am a Marauder pilot to the core, since my very first match when my buddy handed me the mini and said "you can use this one" back in 1990 (unwittingly opening me up to what would be a 21 year and counting devotion to the design).

Close runners up though are Warhammer, Archer, Orion, Thunderbolt, Crusader, Rifleman, Jagermech, Dragon, shoot, basically, all the rest of them. What can I say, it's my favorite weight class?...
