Mon. March 19, 3049: The loss of funding means an end to the pilgrimage to commemorate the first extra-solar colony 933 years ago.

This either has something to do with ComStar, or (more likely) Periphery. :(

"New Earth has the distinction of being the first colonized planet outside of Terra's solar system. Colonization was inaugurated on March 18, 2116 with Martin Cabot appointed as first governor of the colony. New Earth contains at least one continent, called Conseco.

New Earth was one of the worlds that remained a part of the Terran Alliance following the Outer Reaches Rebellion and the Demarcation Declaration of 2242, and became one of the worlds within the Alliance Core region of the Terran Hegemony.

Prior to its colonization, Terran astronomers referred to New Earth's star as 'Tau Ceti'."

-----

"The driving force behind the initial colonization of the Inner Sphere, the Kearny-Fuchida Drive was named after the two professors, Thomas Kearny and Takayoshi Fuchida, who theorized the ability to warp space to allow for quick travel over more than two dozen light years.

Although the two scientists put forward their theories beginning in 2018, their theories were ridiculed for decades. It was only after their deaths that they were vindicated when the Deimos Project "jumped" the first JumpShip from Sol's zenith jump point to its nadir jump point in 2107.

A year later, the TAS Pathfinder made the first manned interstellar "jump" to Tau Ceti, where they confirmed the findings of the slower-than-light Magellan probes: Tau Ceti had a habitable planet, later named New Earth."

New Earth != Liao.

Liao wasn't settled until 73 years later. But who is counting.

Dont worry, you wont be invited to the party.

I coulda swore, Liaotian space was settled first.

I gotta go find my source book and check that fact.

either way, isnt New Earth in Liao space?? =)

Aldebaran....settled by Liao...hmmmm...yeah I think we were first.

as its formally called the Liao Duchey, the planets included the names are not important.

Liao was first into the sphere, and we beheaded those from Terra/Earth to make our point.

Whose next?

Looks like it was Terran Alliance/Hegemony, then Lyran, now FedCom. New Earth. Looks like it currently has some ComStar troops stationed there, the 198th Division.

Nope. New Home was in fact part of the CapCon for a brief period.

No matter.

I still think the CCAF was first to inhabit the innerpshere.....everyone else followed.

even then that doesnt matter.

First Star Lord...heh, was Liaotian.

anyhow, now I am thumbing my books again....

I think the first of the 5 houses was Liao...into the new horizon.

will get back to ya.

Ouch... I'd forgotten about this little nugget of history, the second colonization ship that went out was the Liberator.

Quote

Filled with volunteers from Spain and South America, the Bolivar Foundation purchased a commercial JumpShip from the McDonnell/Lockheed shipyard. On April 26, 2128, the Liberator prepared for hyperjump, beamed one last message to Earth and jumped out-system never to be heard from again.

This disaster prompted the creation of the Colonization Procedure Referendum, which required all colonist ships to be escorted by the Terran Space Navy, among other changes in Terran Alliance colonization governance.

The fate of the Liberator was finally unveiled in 3066 when scavengers located the wreckage of the Liberator in deep space in the Free Worlds League, 9.738 light-years from Silver, 15.662 light-years from Gibraltar and 24.631 light-years from Manotick. The derelict was in rough shape. Large holes were observed covering most of the side of one of its cubic elements (thought to be the engine cube). Mummified corpses were also found on the ship, which had obviously suffered a misjump and explosive decompression from internal explosions of the reactors.

Assuming that only one (mis)jump occurred, the Liberator was moved more than 350 light-years in that single jump, a rare, but not unheard of phenomenon.
Following the rediscovery, the finders tried to sell the ancient wreckage to a museum or similar institution.

Edit: Hm, maybe it wasn't the second ship to go out, I'm having a hard time getting a real list of who went where when, for why or what.

Official Combine history proves you wrong. New Samarkand was the first interstellar colony.

Though I think we can both agree that Sarna is filled to brim with ComStar and FedCom propaganda, and outright tales of fancy.

Just check the Kentares Massacre article...

Oldest State (currently) is Free Worlds League in 2271, with the league being completed in 2293. CapCon is from 2366. But that doesn't matter...

I think Metro was pointing at Independent Republic of Liao from 2240. :(
