It seems Oriente has the same meaning and pronunciation in both Spanish and Italian. The word itself is a deformation of the latin world "oriens" , from the verb "orior", which means either "to be born" or "to rise". Since the sun rises to the east (doh ;) ) , it soon became a synonim of Eastern. Hope you liked the little bit of trivia :D
