3.) If, the cockpit isn't breached, then yes for a short time

5.) Yes, Mechs are often used instead of submarines for naval warfare. Including attacking bases at the bottoms of abysses

I think in MechWarrior 2 you survived the Lava, how far away is the nuclear blast? He/She is in their Mech right?

1) Matter of distance.
2) Yes.
3) Matter of time.
4) Yes.
5) Water pressure on the armor and internal structure... probably up to a point.
6) Yes, unless there was an ammunition explosion. I assume the pilot has shock absorption and restraints in the cockpit.
7) Yes.

Most combat vehicles have NBC, or Nuclear / Biological / Chemical protection.
