I thought the only pods that were in Canada were in Montreal.

Those were VWE owned.

The PODs that were in Toronto in the late 90's were leased to the CN tower as part of it's VR Arcade. The PODs were only here for a short time as the arcade was more of an exhibit of the VR technologies. These were then leased to a company in the US and later sold. You are correct in your statement about the owners, and thats where the CN Tower leased them from.

Ah LordZowy

Propwash is the CEO of Virtual Worlds Entertainment so he does know what he's talking about.

I spent a good bit of time at the Virtual World in Pasadena. Never did get to play in a Tesla pod though, as I went off to college before they arrived. I might just have to plan a trip to Michigan one of these days.

I loved playing, but I was not as good as I wish I could have been, considering I am left-handed and manipulating the joystick was a tad awkward.

My favourite 'Mech was the Thor v1, despite the "bow tie" issues inherent in the chassis.

Hmm. Interesting. That would mean at least 2 locations where pods were located. I suppose I could be merging 2 locations into one in my head. I'll find that photo album and see if you can confirm the 'spot' the pics were taken.

I literally grew up in those things. When I was a wee little lad, my father took me to Virtual World in Pasadena. Some truly great memories. I find it really strange that with today's technology, we have fewer of those things.

If I had any money or room for one of those, I would be driving to get some. I didn't read through all pages of the thread (sorry TL;DR) but, if those of you who grabbed these pods read this, PLEASE Post some picture's of your reanimated MW pods :) :,)

OMG, I am in San Diego..
I have absolutely no electronics skills and live in base housing..

:D

I think my best bet will sadly be one of the more portable PVC builds :/
$25 is such a sweet deal though.

I know there's a place here in Denver that has a few active pods. It's in Littleton to be precise. They even have enough people to host "Members only" nights.

Those are either Mike Wilsons former pods or they are the ones that were warehoused in Salinas about 10 years ago. This is presuming that my former pods that went to GreenDay did NOT make it to this place.

Not my cockpits. I stripped the 4 cockpits I discarded completely so that the 2 I have remaining could live on indefinitely. Those bodies I tore apart myself (sorry gang).

Oh the memories! I was running in those in Chicago way back when. They even had me in the intro video once, before they hired actors. Too bad I'm thousands of miles away from those, would love to grab a pair.

Very nice! Sadly I missed an opportunity to ever get to play on these but I expect I'll be soon able to make up for lost time.

I use to travel the country with my father to visit these. We went to LasVegas, Seatle, Chicago Montreal. The trip to Chicago was every other year untill we went back one year ant it was gone. We both thought we were nuts because the store did not only dissapear but the entire floor of the mall. When it went away they took a floor! That is how epic they were. Since then I have found them in Dave and Busters (not all locations had them which was depressing for 2 whole trips). Then one day I walked into Big Kidz games in Grand Rapids, MI. I was expecting gaming supplies. They had magic cards and magic cards. I did not play that. But off in the corner of my eye I way a row of amazing. It was the holy grail. These now tour the country 3-5 times a year to Cons. But the live in GR and run on the weekends unless you reserve them. I suggest you get a group of friends and visit there to enjoy the shere number of switches and dongles. It is like the first time you played a MW game and had a keyboard of controles. Only there are important ones on your side and above your head. Togles and secrets all arround. Nice stuff. They also can help you repait the mark I or 2 they run only 2s.

On a side note I was so pissed as a kid when they switched to mark II, They look cooler but the chair was angled better. not as cool but being tall it made you feel small.

Also since those are Tesla I be sure to check the chair slider as they can get stuck. So a can of WD40 is your friend and be careful.

ARCNet? I have 4 ARCNet PC130 cards sitting in anti-static bags in a drawer, if anybody needs them for a refurbishing project (if BT pods take ISA bus cards).

I'd be happy to ship them off for the price of a pizza. <_<
