Given the timeline info as well as the developer design ideals I'd pick these:

Light:
Firefly
http://www.sarna.net...55U_Firefly.jpg (pictures really big)

Medium:
Dervish

Or

Blackjack
Posted Image

Heavy:
Orion
Posted Image

Assault:
Cyclops

The highlander might make it in as the Hero mech. It's still relatively uncommon in 3049 and in small numbers.

The Mad Dog, the Timber Wolf, the Summoner, and ... I don't know....

Those three mechs are the ones I have the best memories of from Mech Warrior 2.

(On an unrelated note, I had a nostalgia moment yesterday and watched some the opening cutscenes for MW2 yesterday... Ah the memories! :D )

Hmmm, I'll go with one from each weight class and (sadly) no Unseen/Reseen.

Hermes
Posted Image

Dervish
Posted Image

Black Knight
Posted Image

Banshee
Posted Image

All of them fill a weight range not currently being represented and with all of them, I'd love to see what Alex Iglesias would do with them.

Edit: Oh, and all of them have a fair amount of Variants (though the Black Knights & Hermes are all energy boats).

Javelin
Panther
Vindicator
Thug*

*I only say "Thug" because I happened to notice the Highlander in the PC Gamer magazine. I can't say that I appreciate that there's a Star League design that's going to crop up in the initial lineup, but if we're taking that route, I'd like to see a Thug.

I'm afraid you've got a much longer wait ahead of you for your 'mechs than you think.

Uziel and Hellspawn are both 3067'ish. Expect them to be put into the game around the year 2025-2030
Battlemaster is unseen, and while CGL technically have the ability to use the artwork (Dougram is not held by Harmony gold), they have opted to phase out the unseen again.
And as for the Hatchetman, the mechanics to incorporate melee combat in MWO is bound to be cumbersome at best and impossible at the worst. I applaud the team for wanting to include it, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.

Makes me ponder about what is available, and I'm going for some unseen stuff with some oldies but goldies.

Light: Valkyrie
Medium: Shadowhawk
Heavy: Orion
Assault: Highlander

Those are within the timeline but some are unseen. I really don't care about unseen 'mech designations, since PGI is going to redo the look of them anyways, there shouldn't be any problems. I have reasons for picking each one and I'll put pen to paper.

Valkyrie
The Valkyrie is a true skirmishing light 'mech. Enough armor and firepower combined with decent speed makes this make capable of supporting the big boys. Normally mounting a LRM10 rack and medium laser, it also comes standard with jumpjets, giving it above average mobility.

Shadowhawk
One of the granddaddy's of Battletech, this medium 'mech is a complete package. Decent speed, armor and jumpjets with a diverse amount of hardpoints make this the Jack-of-all-Trades that all medium 'mechs aspire to be. LRM5 and SRM2 racks with a medium laser and AC5 is a great loadout for a 'mech with the mobility rating that this machine enjoys. Combined with decent armor for a medium, and you get a great utility 'mech that can fit into many roles.

Orion
The old standard for heavy 'mechs and the ride of one Alexander Kerensky himself, the Orion set the standard for heavy 'mechs. Heavy armor with a diverse and heavy weapons loadout makes this a no-brainer for my heavy choice. LRM15, AC10, SRM4, with 2 medium lasers, this is a heavily armed 'mech. As fast as a Hunchback with over 400ap, this would be one tough machine to face down and would admirably fill the role of any heavy machine.

Highlander
Either the Succession Wars era or SLDF model is just incredible for an assault 'mech. Heavily armored and armed, the thing that makes the 'mech shine is the inclusion of jump jets. Everyone knows about a "Highlander Burial" and I bet can't wait to get this 'mech so they can give somebody one. The gauss rifle equipped SLDF model or the AC10 up-armored Succession Wars model are both dangerous machines, and would have the Atlas and Awesome pilots checking their six for the panic inducing sight of this machine.

They said ANY 4 'mechs and I picked any 4.

I was wrong about Uzie and Hellspawn, they come out in 3062

As for the Battlemaster they can do a reseen model of it and I think its better anyway, Harmony has no claim to the reseen versions.

Within the current timeline ofcourse:

Light: Locust
Medium: Shadow Hawk
Heavy: Marauder
Assault: Battlemaster

I picked them because they are unseen, they are unlikely to ever be added at this point.

Instantly Answered! Highlander is already a known Mech, just check out PC Gamer or the numerous threads here about that PC Gamer article.

You're welcome. ;)
