I'm downloading it from Mektek... see if that changes anything. But the drop down menu in the game would not drop down to change the resolution.
Weird stuff

hate to break it to you but you using piratebay isn't exactly something they frown upon, considering they released a torrent of the game, which is likely the torrent you found anyways, also, installer isn't up to date, you still need to update it

To catalogue the various problems:
Installed the Mektek Downloader, which was constantly 'under heavy traffic'. I could not, under any circumstance, load the 'splash page'--whatever it was, without crashing the client, which would not load again unless I performed a reboot.
So I get it loaded and patched, run the game annnnnnd~!
You do not have the video codec to launch blahblahblah movie. Okay, no problem. Go to tech forums, loaded the latest codecs--nope, that didn't work. But supposedly I could still play--oh, but I couldn't enter fullscreen mode? So more fiddling around, get that to work, load up the first mission annnnd--the graphics are completely borked, and I can't move. Weirdly, I can hit the escape key to bring up the menu and quit out or modify settings, but I can't move. Or see anything on the screen (outside of the menu overlay) change.
I gotta be honest, I just gave up at around that point. Couldn't find any details in the FAQ or 'Manual' that might explain the hell was going on, and I didn't feel like trying to rummage through their tech support forums to find the exact problem that was like mine.
Not really Mektek's fault, I suppose. I imagine trying to keep the game running for a myrid of systems it was never designed for is frustrating to say the least, but ****.

I read that some are having problems with installing MekTek's MP 3.1 mod. I'm told that if your OS is vista or win7,that it has to be done in "admin mode"
I'm one of the unit leaders from the http://www.netbattletech.com/nbt-mp3/ community. We are currently gearing up to start a new puretech, roleplay, planetary league using the MekTek MP3.1 mod for mw4 mercs. The NBT has it's own dedicated league servers.Coincidently we at NBT are planning on shadowing the events of the CBT timeline of 3049.While it's not possible to be true to battletech canon using this mod,for many obvious reasons. We are planning to be are close as possible to canon with what we have to play with.
Here is the list of currently available units:
Inner Sphere
Free Rasalhague Republic
Capellan Confederation
St. Ives Compact
Mercenaries
Kell Hounds
Gray Death Legion
The Twelfth Star Guards
The Black Omen
Northwind Highlanders
Clans
Clan Nova Cat
Clan Diamond Shark

But thats not a reason not to play it? o.O I mean... if you don´t like MTX you can still install, download and update it the way you used to do. o.O
MTX is just optional and nothing besides a downloader.
Now I am not sure but I have a better idea just play the board game

Occasionally getting inaccurate hit detection, but I seem to be registering 150-200ms lag for some unknown reason (I'm usually 95-100ms), so that could easily account for it. Couple great fights. Danced around in my close ranged Ebon Jaguar while trying not to be flattened by this dude's multi-arrow Cyclops. Oh man, that thing sucks to fight. D: Gave as good as I got. I just need to figure out how I used to bind the steering and look left/right commands, because the way I have it now it's difficult to use the side looks without forethought.
Great to see that the good attitude I recall still exists in game. Put up a good fight, win or lose, and they say GF. Only nice to reciprocate!

Tiny crude MSPaint phallus on a face enclosed, you have been warned
I hate you, Rufus, I hate you so much. (ditto, but necessary)
Argus aren't cheap, RUFUS.
He's in a Catapult because I can't trust him not to BLOW UP in anything heavier.
I should fire him.

I ended up ordering the MW 4: Mercs CD on Amazon for $19.99 since I got tired of wasting my time on an installer that did not work. Since then, I've beat the game at least five times for both Davion and Steiner campaigns, and haven't looked back.

Did they think it was FUNNY having a stealth mission when playing for the Lyrans?
I too had a devil of a time beating that mission the first time around. The key for me was to select the fastest mech I could, boost its speed, install a jammer and jump jets, and then after scanning the last warehosue, high-tailing it BACK to the mountain overlooking the base (instead of running the gauntlet). At the mountain, I turned and blew up the fuel tanks to damage the pursuers, and then ran/jumped UP and Over the mountain (instead of around it). Once on the other side, I put distance between my mech and my pursuers, and then ran a full speed back to the gap, where I made liked a scalded-tail dog for the extraction point.

So you drew them to the other side of the mountain before running off? Sounds like a good idea, never thought of that because I was too impatient to try out different strategies on such a dragging mission. Now that I've got the Mektek edition, I can just buy a Fire Moth and hightail it at SUPER SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED... which doesn't really feel that fast because lol mw4 engine. The mission just seems to hinge purely on your luck on how accurate those enemy shots will be.
I personally always had the most trouble with Hacker run, which I think a whole lotta other people would agree. A mission made for two Steiner scout lances, but you only get one. And then you have to run like hell afterwards, which is exactly what a Steiner scout lance is not made to do.

I think the pilots do have unique personalities in combat, and Rufus' is walking up into somebody's face for no good reason, even when he's a perfect-stats elite at the latter half of the game.
But I really would like to know what you're doing if you're having money problems in this game. It just doesn't compute.

Yes...you have to get them to chase after you on the mountain, where you can either out run them up the slope (while zigzagging) or jump over the summit to the other side and then run like Hades. Once you're on the other side, then double back through the gap and head for the extraction point. It was the only way I found to beat this mission. Running the obvious direct-path gauntlet fails every time.
