GL HF and DS

I like the philosophy that it shows of good sportsmanship, but I've always felt it lacked a lil something (3 IS a magic number).
That's why I am attempting to popularize my own version of this pre-game "handshake", GL HF and DS.
DS? you may rightly ask. Don't Shoot? Die Slowly? no, no no, my friends is simply "Don't Suck".
While this is mainly advice for my own team, as I often play in PUGs it does in fact apply to both teams. Matches where my team is decimated by a force using superior tactics are the worst, but matches where my team decimates the opposing by similar methods is only a bit better.
The best matches are when both teams are of relatively equal strength in tactics and composition.
I commend the devs for the proposed changes to matchmaking and look forward to seeing the impact of them.
I implore more players to read up on the forums, learn the basics and their roles in the team environment.
Yes, I understand that stating that here is pointless as the only ones reading this already know the importance of going in informed. That is the philosophy of DS. It is up to the forum reading community to remind the new players (at least until tutorials on implemented) of their duty to read up on these important sections of the forums. As a beta tester it is the LEAST you can do, not to ruin the experience for others by starting your round with questions like "how do I set up my weapon groups"
So when you see people asking basic questions, be polite, but firm. "Please read the forums before jumping in" then start your round with what I hope becomes the official MWO "handshake before the fight"

So I decided to start dishing out GLHF everytime we start up a game. I dunno was I the one of the few ones that did it but I've seen GLHF to raise up latelly to every game I go!
What I think if we don't GLHF that the community will passivate and turn more in to a flame fest like in League of Legends. (I've already seen few ragers here and there.)
So keeping up a positive aspect on the game is part of the fun, surely you can't win all the time, atleast try to have fun while doing so.

I usually say to my team don't get shot but they always seem to fail at that

Also maybe GL HF and DS in the future in my brain now can be more like a bow before a martial arts competition and not a polite smile to people ill never see again, a sign of your respect for the game teamwork and sportsmanship not silly social "politeness" haha I guess you converted me ill start wishing people GL HF and DS

Based on the posts in the beta forum over the past few weeks, I think there are quite a few people who stopped having fun a while ago. Why are they still here? Dunno.

While I don't totally agree with that statement, if its a one sided curb stomp its not a good game so don't say GG.

No offence, but whether you agree with the statement or not is irrelivant. That's what GG means in competitive play. Watch any Starcraft, DOTA tournament and that is how it is used. And that is how it should be used.
It's a means of courtesy to the winning team/player. Quoting the old saying "Win humbly, Lose gracefully". its ment to state, "You played better then us/me on the day, you deserve the win, I concede". Then you click out. It's not just some arbitrary term you use at the end of a match, or some taunt to shame the other team when you stomp them like you stated, and I fully agree with.
So for pub matches it should be used in the same way or not at all cause its a pub, we are here to have fun. There's no money or pride on the line.

Like I said, I don't think GL HF started here. It's just the first place I've seen it.
Read on to see that what I'm promoting is something original for the MWO community to rally around. The DS part.
As far as GG at the end of a game, that's something I've been doing since the 90's with Quake 2 (yes, I'm old). As a person who may go on a bit when I speak, I also make it a point to not waste words by saying something I don't actually feel.
I say GG after a match that was fun for the right reasons, competitive and exciting. Hell if it's a really good game I've been known to say GFG. I don't think I need to start a new topic to explain what that extra F stands for.

Again, "GL HF DS" has been said since the late 90s. It isn't original, or new. People said it ALL the time especially on BGH maps in SC1. Yes, including the DS part.
