STK-6M Stalker. It's everything I generally hate in a 'Mech (Slow and ugly), but it's just so good at what it does, namely shredding anything it can get a lock on.

I would go Mad Cat PPCs in each arm with Pulse lasers, a few LRMs and heavy armor. I really hate running out of ammo so i try to keep most of my load-outs beam based so with that in mind my absolute favorite was the Nova Cat

Well, lets break this down.

Light
Stilleto - Heavy Lasers, Flamer

Medium
Uziel (my overall favorite mech) - Dual PPCS, MGS and SRM

Heavy
Timber Wolf - PPCS, Dual MBLs, LRMs

Notice 2 of the 3 are solid Inner Sphere mechs that have been proven very effective against clan mechs (Port Arthur and Arc- Royal). But in the heavy category, clan rules almost always.

If it's a spheroid machine, then i'd take the FLC-8R Falconer, superior movement and decent firepower, whilst retaining the MAR Protection. Just for odds, the MTR-5K Maelstrom is a fun machine too :)
Talking Clan, then it's either the Viper, which takes a similar approach as the Falconer, or, for breathtaking, the Behemoth... rip them apart whilst they close in, then crush them below your feet... literally :)
