Hello folks, instead of sorting through pages of stuff can i just ask...

...is the game going to like a Saitek x52 Pro? A page I saw said that the devs haven't optimised the game for joysticks and aren't considering it a major priority.

I haven't bought the stick. I am using a Razer Nostromo keypad and Naga Epic mouse. Would still only be considering the joystick.

terribly sorry, but as a fellow x52 owner.... This game is m/k. You can use your hotas, but you WILL BE AT A DISADVANTAGE. M/k is very intuative. Silly from a game who has a hotas devoted just to this game.

Will this change if the game has better support for joysticks later?

I admit, I am still keen just because it looks like a fun way to play.

Only time will tell...

A lot will likely depend upon the individual's skill and inclinations... but it will also be dependent upon just how far PGI goes with stick/HOTAS support. The more options they give us, the better the chances are that a joystick / HOTAS can be effective enough to meet the needs / desires of some players. Along with making all axis controls behave in an analog manner, if they provide an option to have full joystick deflection correspond to full deflection of the mech's axis being controlled ( ie. Full left stick gives you full left torso twist [ or full left leg turn if that is what you have setup instead] ), then joystick control could be preferable for some people. If they provide the sort of joystick tuning (gain / linearity / axis inversion, etc.) that we see in combat flight sims like the DCS series, joystick / HOTAS control gets more feasible.

It just looks fun  And, that's what I'm here for. But, at the same time I will keep in mind waiting for it to work.

Here's some information quoted from forum(s) you may or may not have access to. Regardless I hope this helps. I for one don't understand why anyone with profile editing software that came with their stick is wondering if their's works... make it work?! The tools are right there for you and I am envious of you lol.

C: Saitek Users Continue Below here:
Note Saitek users: Here's the official manual that explains how to use the SST Joystick profile Manager:: http://www.saitek.co...T_Manual_En.pdf
Note: make sure your software and drivers are up to date with the link below.

Saitek Drivers and Software: http://www.saitek.co...own/drivers.php

SST(Saitek Smart Technology) Joystick profile Manager users:
Setup your extra keys as you desire.

Here's the current settings I'm using for my profile for my X-52Pro.

1. Create a new text file here
"Documents\Saitek SD6 Profiles"

named "mwo.pr0"(be sure to remove the .txt extention)
2. Copy this code into the file using Notepad:
Spoiler

3. Save and exit notepad.
4. enable the profile using SST systray Icon
5. set weapons group 2 in the game(or use my xml above) to this key "]" this will allow you to use both your 1st and 2nd triggers with the primary firing button.
6. The rest of the keys are as follows:
Fire D = "Space bar" for Jump Jets.
Toggle 1(UP) = "N" for Night Vision on/off
Toggle 2(UP) = "H" for Heat Vision on/off
POV 2(Down; it's the one above Fire C) = "Z" for Zoom in/out
7. The throttle Thumb mouse is disabled because it kept getting hit while in intense combat.

8. Switch to mode 3 and enjoy.
