No, because Lone Wolves are not tied to one another like Mercs are. If the Bounty Hunters finds someone he likes to go on missions with, great. But neither Lone Wolf will have to go fight for the same employer at the same time and many times be on opposites sides of the fence.

I get that, but why on earth would a house pay a lonewolf, when he could recruit a reputable mercenary company with leadership and accountablity? Only dirty 1 man jobs I would assume. Ok that's roleplay.

As non roleplay, why would any of your fellow video game players who are in units, houses, companies want a LoneWolf over someone with accountablity and a team first ethic? It just sounds like problem. You could hope, that as an excellent pilot, your repuation will secure you a drop. Unfortuantely, with only 12 v 12, there isn't a need for "Cannon fodder" just to fill out the unit. It seems more and more that LoneWolf will be vs other LoneWolfs, and not part of the planetary metagame as much. Which may be just how LWs want it.

Many Lone Wolves are merely waiting to see a unit that impresses them.

I might have considered his arguments viable, till I saw the "I don't take orders well,". If you cannot follow simple commands to try and attain victory, then you will only be extra weight on your team.

It does seem that, for all of the talk about Lone Wolves being hired guns and competing for the highest bidder, they will only be able to do that in a meta game aspect. I don't think they are able to be officially hired, paid, or contracted in any meaningful ingame way.

As a lone wolf, the player can earn loyalty points through participation in random matches, however these LPs have no positive or negative implications. A lone wolf player does not have any ranks.

It would appear that until we hear otherwise - Lone Wolves are merely dropped into random matches by the game.

In addition, I would say that his overall point is correct as well. The majority of mercs have biases that prevent them from being completely mercenary. The point I was arguing against was that true mercs can't/won't take orders of any kind.

To this the Bounty Hunter will say, if you see the Bounty Hunter on your team, do not fear that he will not follow orders. He is honorable, if not a bit disturbed (which is another conversation entirely  ). The Bounty Hunter wonders though, if it comes down to it, and the he or another veteran Lone Wolf is in the position to make "Suggestions" to his teammates, will he be marginalized? That is to be seen.......

For sure, you wil be marginalizedl my friend. For every "I'm an order following Lonewolf!" like you, there will probably be 10 others LW who just do not give a eff, want to blow stuff up for 20 minutes a day, ruining the reputation of all LWs. I just dont' see how it will work in the long term, if you want to play in the big game.

I can say this only for myself Bounty Hunter - but if you were in my lance, and you had a suggestion - I would listen to it at least. I am not a fictional king sitting upon an invisible throne. I know I don't have real power. More importantly, I understand that you might have a different perspective on a situation and therefore I will never have all of the answers. I also don't plan on abusing lone wolves unless they endanger the rest of my unit.

That's where reputation and meta gaming come into play. I'm sure that the rangers will keep a list of good and bad lone wolves, and will treat them accordingly. I'll remember the bounty hunter.

Yes, this is probably the case. I expect most "LoneWolfs" to have a 30 day turn over before they join something or join with eachother, only to be filled by new ones who "just dont' want to commit right now". I think LW will be a temp status for most if not all.

You are correct and time will tell. It would be great if Mercs, Lone Wolves or even house Players could come together on a single contract and drop together in a coordinated effort. Then afterwards go their separate ways

The Bounty Hunter honers the Listless Nomad and hope to see him on either side of the fence in honorable combat.

That would be nice - and who knows. Dev blog one was written way back in december and even in the GDC interviews they didn't have the community warfare nailed down. All of that could be subject to change and I think threads like this will help steer their thinking.

And thanks Bounty, it's nice to know there are some LWs out there who don't have a rampaging problem with authority
