Wait, Smoke Jaguar gets Norris & Round House Kicking?!

I'll take that over medical & gym membership any day.

Don't bring those crappy chuck norris jokes here of all places! Besides, he already has an endorsement from WoW...

Could always use dirty Duke Nukem jokes...

Not to derail this thread too much, but I actually never much cared for Norris, always been a Chev Chelios fan myself...

Still, rather wish my guys didn't get themselves obliterated, though I did enjoy Op Damocles...

Welcome Trothkin, prove yourself worthy to join my unit, and maybe we'll fight alongside one another. Where will you be till the clans open up?

MechWarrior 3 had good gameplay, crappy storyline. And on another note, the Jaguars ARE still around. The Warship Streaking Mist managed to escape along with whatever unknown/unconfirmed numbers of warriors/personnel/ships that also managed to survive destruction, possibly living it out in the Deep Periphery somewhere post Bulldog/Serpent. Kinda makes me wish there was a detailed story about the Jaguar survivors and how they struggle to stay alive in the harsh Periphery up until the Jihad/Dark Age periods/timelines. Because lets face it, the whole Fidelis thing wouldn't be if the Smoke Jaguars were "completely" destroyed now right? :)

Ah such is the elite media bias against the Jaguar fanbase..... :D

As far as Clans, Steel Viper. They're going to do great things....

In all honesty, my back story knowledge is limited to a vague sketch of the pre-clan days &... well, the Exodus on to some time shortly after MW3. I know, I know, I am a terrible human being. :D

But maybe I can start caring again if there's a chance the Smoke Jaguars aren't so much dust...

Well, what people tend to miss is the fact that the word "annihilate" means "completely destroyed"....as in....NO survivors, NO remnants, NOTHING. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Annihilation

The FACT ALONE that the Streaking Mist (a Smoke Jaguar WARSHIP...an entire WARSHIP) survived means that SOME (possibly many) Jaguars survived. Did LOTS of Jaguars die in Bulldog/Serpent? Absolutely. Did ALL the Jaguars die in Bulldog/Serpent? Absolutely NOT. (Only the involvement of Chuck Norris would have made that possible). Otherwise cases like the Streaking Mist and numerous other unknown/unwritten/unconfirmed survivors that later became the Fidelis in the Dark Age storyline (3100+ year wise in BattleTech lore) would simply not be. And the fact that the Fidelis (aka the Smoke Jaguar survivors) are later freed from service to The Republic 21+ years later means a world of possibilities exist for the Jaguars/Fidelis to continue in the storyline and reestablish themselves wherever they choose to go.

If you haven't already or are unfamiliar with the Dark Age series ZRO Zimm, I would HIGHLY recommend the Dark Age novel Surrender Your Dreams by Blaine Lee Pardoe (Amazon would be your best bet for finding it). Even if the Dark Age series is terrible (as most people here tend to say despite their love for Catalyst) it can be an interesting read all around. There are other Dark Age books as well but as far as the Jaguars are concerned Surrender Your Dreams is THE recommended book.

So don't worry and don't listen to the haters out there, the future of the Smoke Jaguar is bright indeed. The Smoke Jaguar always survives in one form or another. :D

Hmm. Thanks for the headsup! I will take a look, I could do with a new book! I hadn't been aware of the Streaking Mist, though in my mind, Bulldog/Serpent never really happened.

Denial will get you everywhere.

PS: Zimm is fine, the ZRO is only there because someone got to Zimm first, much to my consternation.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Black_Lion

Look for the Named Vessels section and it should list a CSJ Streaking Mist Black Lion class type of warship in there as well as confirm the fact that it survived (though its exact whereabouts are unknown post Bulldog/Serpent...my guess would be: Deep Periphery.).

And yeah I don't blame ya for ignoring the whole Twilight of the Clans Jaguars series. There is many a flaw in that storyline IMHO. :D

Blaine Lee Pardoe is one of the better BT writers anyways, so his tend to be pretty good reads, just finishing a book of his now.

Had to go Nova on this one... No good reason, other than the arbitrary fact that I am currently replaying a favorite somewhat older game; Escape Velocity Nova. I do like me some Pardoe novels though. Haven't had the time or the space really to buy all the Dark Age novels, though I own all the others and they are good. Not sure why so many have a hate on for the Twilight(admittedly worse meaning now) series...
