I don't seem to be having any luck on the mektek forums, so I'm hoping maybe someone here can help me. I'm sure one or two of you are playing MW4: Mercs :D Anywho, my issue:

I first have to admit I'm not the most technologically savvy person out there. But here it goes.

I've followed all of the instructions. I downloaded MTX and downloaded MW4: Mercs from the games available tab. The instructions mention updating, but right after install it says it is updated. If I click "check for updates", nothing happens. So, it looks updated, but idk, maybe the issue is there. Anyway, when I try to launch the game, a window pops up like it is going to open for about 1-2 seconds (just a black screen in the window), and then it just closes. That's it. No error messages or anything.

So, can anyone help me get the game launched? Many thanks.

btw, , I'm running windows 7 home premium, in case that's the issue.

Your executable target needs to look like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\MekTek.net\Mechwarrior Mercenaries - Mektek Mekpak\MW4Mercs.exe" /gosnovideo

The /gosnovideo at the end of it, outside of the quotation marks is key.

Thx for the response. It is quite possible I simply did it wrong as I'm not great with computers, but I wasn't able to get the game to launch. I changed the target address of the shortcut to what you said, but my window still opens and closes within seconds as before.

if you dont even see the very first intro part, it´s not the above problem

first of all...start as admin (rightklick the shortcut and search for the checkbox ), activate compatibility winxp sp 3 (same here, winXP sp3 in a dropdown) ... if that doesnt help add
the /gosnovideo AND/OR /gosnojoystick command like told above... (looks like "/gosnovideo /gosnojoystick" then) that worked for me, but i was able to run the intro, it crashed AFTER the first intro sequence..

also try / or \ ... i´m pretty sure you have to use /... and always with a space between
Mercs.exe"<1space>/gosnovideo /gosnojoystick

Thanks, that worked! And after just a brief mechwarrior fix, I blew $120 :) PG, don't make me regret it.

Ugh. I keep seeing the "gosnovideo" fix all over the place, but when I try to modify the target shortcut as mentioned, I get a message saying "/ and \ cannot be used to modify file names". Which part am I doing wrong? I'm on a win7 64 bit if that makes a difference
