Is it just me, or do mechs look REALLY weak in gameplay videos. Arms and limbs break off with just ER Medium Laser shots. One or 2 PPCs can bring down a Heavy or Assault mech, or at least cripple it to a point where you may aswell eject. It reminds me a lot of MW3, where I've seen mechs crumble like tinfoil, but I don't want it to be like MW4, where you can survive billions of rounds of ordanance. A balance needs to be found.

I really hope they intend on improving damage/health, what do you guys think?

(Note: I currently am not playing the beta, just stalking the game. Please tell me if anything has changed)
(30 minutes after this I got accepted, ran around my house, and then installed it. I'll see soon.)

In those videos, it was most likely staged to show off the cool explosions. In an actual game currently in beta, it takes a whole lot more to take a mechs arm off, unless they intentionally leave a lot of armor off their arm or are already damaged.

Also, there are no ER medium lasers in the game, that's clan technology and won't be introduced till sometime after the start of the clan invasion. The only Extended Range technology the Innersphere has is the ER Large Laser. For now there's just regular medium lasers.

I imagine that you've already figured out as much by now, but you're probably using a Trial 'Mech at the moment - those cannot be customized at all, though you don't need to pay for any repairs or re-arming they might require after a match.
Welcome to the Beta, I hope you have fun.

yes, as Lorcan said trial mechs can't be customized, and don't need to be repaired or rearmed. They also earn only about 80-85% a non-trial mech would, or some percentage around there.

To get a mech you can customize you need to go to the "owned mech" tab and select "create new mech" in one of your empty mech bays. From there you can buy a mech with either the C-bills you've saved up, or with MC(Mech Credits) you can buy with real $$.

As a new user, you will have 4 free Trial Mechs; they cannot be configured. you can earn C-bills to buy your own mech later which you can configure.

you may wish to have a good look at the Beta Guides forum http://mwomercs.com/...rum/74-general/
