I'm not a fan. One of the things I can't stand in bullet hell games is when the image doesn't match up with the hitbox.

Example:

I think this is the most glaring one I've ever seen but it stuck with me. You can see the player's hitbox is completely inside of the red orbs during the fight, and they still aren't taking any damage.

I really like the music, and the geometric designs of attacks are pretty, but I just don't really like the gameplay of tohou. : /

That's a deliberate design aspect of bullet hell shooters: your hitbox is usually one pixel wide, it's the only way you could avoid dying when the screen becomes 99.9999999999999999999999% bullets.

Ah, good 'ol Touhou project, i still remember being utterly devastated by most of the bosses; especially by Kanako on Mountain of Faith, Orin on Subterranean Animism and Shou on Undefined Fantastic Object (damn those curvy lazors >.<).

The only games that i've been able to 1CC so far are Imperishable Night (on easy) and Lotus Land Story (on normal). >.>

Anyway, i'll leave you with 2 of my favourite arrangements. =w=

Oh no, are we posting Touhou music in this thread now? I could be linking stuff in here all day and hardly make a dent in what I've got.

I'll just share one I've been really enjoying lately. From a newly-released album from C82. Whole album is an excellent and uncanny mix of metal and Japanese folk music sounds.

Love Ranko's vocals.

Anyway, nice to see more Touhou fans in here.

Between the games, music and characters created by the one man army that is ZUN, not to mention the various artworks and doujin materials created by a very hardcore and dedicated fanbase; Touhou is one of the most awesome things ever.

Here are some goodies for you all.

Aw, come on! Surely you're just grabbing biga** archive torrents to have that much stuff. I am a little picky about what I keep, at any rate. Mostly pick and choose from download threads every event; buy a couple albums here and there.

Also, nice choice on that song, Lady Scarlet. Excellent album. Need more Touhou ambient/chillout stuff like that.

Edit: Forgot to share another song. Let's get some Flawless Clothing of the Celestials up in here.

We are sorry to inform you that this usual installment of "Touhou Music Special" has been interrupted by a random bout of comedy sketches instead.

Ahh, actually around half of it was from a few seperate archives, a few years back. Though I hated that they had so many holes, and missing peices to them so I'd started to fill them in myself. Ever since then i've just been trying to get every little thing in existance (In the realm of Touhou arranges and remixes). Maybe one day new things will stop being produced, and i'll have everything... Who am I kidding, i'll be doing this forever~

And there's no need to be afraid, you silly people. I'm just here to take part in your strange robot games.

Won't ZUN die of alcohol poisoning / liver failure in the next decade or so if he keeps up his game productivity routine?

And that doesn't make us any less doomed.

Meanwhile

To me, this be the best Nitori remix out there.

Some songs just seem better suited to some genres. Luna Dial, for example, suits Rock/Metal quite well, The Girl's Secret Room to Techno/Trance, etc.

I would say this is in my opinion the best Nitori remix out there due to it's story atop being a good vocal remix in my opinion;

Aside from that, some songs like "The Gensokyo the Gods Loved" do well with softer instrumental choices.

ACH! YOU BEAT ME TO IT!

Though i'd like to input just a thought of mine, as a player of many instruments. I hear a lot of people saying that some songs better fit specific instruments, or genre's. While it's somewhat true, I believe the main reasoning behind that comes with how each original song has a "Feel" to it. When certain instruments are taken, or added, as well as when melody and time are changed the song looses some of that original feeling it had. Of course that's not a bad thing, it's just the artists interpretation of that song, which is one of the things that keeps me interested in most Touhou music.

Solar Sect of Nuclear Wisdom is one of my my favorite examples to give (And play). Upfront it will always seem to be a song of power, though it's just as much of a slow lullaby at the same time, it applies to almost every song.

Foxes always win, haven't you learned that yet? :)

Though something to consider, is that often what remixes appeal to someone often boils down to their on preferences, though it is true some of the songs ZUN has composed are more fitting of certain genres given the original style of the song. . For example, ZUN intended Lunar Clock-Luna Dial to be somewhat rock oriented.

Meanwhile, some remixes pull quite far away from the original song, with very little left. But at the same time, often you can still feel a hint of the original. Often, on their own they are quite good songs. For example;

(although there was more of a feel for Luna Dial noticeable in the second part, at least in my opinion. This is in comparison to the mixture of Septette for the Dead Princess and U N Owen Was Her? which in many respects lacks the feel of the original songs, but still comes out as a great song on it's own.)
