Well, if you are in the closed beta, you should be able to guess why the ads in the client are still there..if not guessing yet, get into the beta forum announcements :-)

For all others, it was told that founders packages (not pre-orders actually) would have been available only for a limited time.. the date was set to 14th October the past week, so no really surprise here.

The client ads can be actualy a bit "confusing", but not that much.

Hopefully, founder's program will never be reactivated... the only reason for a re-start of the program would be the fact that open beta is being pushed long-back, and this would be a bad thing in imho :P ... also, as the devs stated, this shouldn't be the case, and I think that Open Beta will be among us in a couple of weeks if everything goes well (just guessing)

The founders program is over? Well that's nice. So it ended on 14th? I got my beta approved at 16th so thanks a ton for giving me the option. I bet there has been a way to claim it somewhere else, but I have totally missed it.

Still seeing the ads for the standard, elite and legendary when I start the launcher. I have to say that I am a bit sad over this since I'm totally freakin' loving this game, but the trial mechs are a bit crappy. I would have gone for the elite or actually even for the legendary, but... I can't. Which isn't nice.

Now starts the serious cry part of this message.
I'll grind for couple of days with the trial mechs, decide that they are no good and leave the game. Possibly even forget that this ever was there. I know... cry cry cry me a river. Anyways... you guys keep up the good work. The game looks nice. I'm loving it. Well.. I was loving it.

The Founder's program was open for purchases since July, if 4 months wasn't enough time to pre-order well most games don't have pre-orders out for any longer than that. Just buy MC as normal and enjoy this awesome, free-to-play mechwarrior game.

i guess someone already told you by now...but the founders program was not a preorder...you can´t preorder a free product....

it was a kickstarter funding program, kind of...with the exception you got something in return and not just a "thanks, maybe we will start developing something with your money"...

the founders program has been expanded for over a month, it should have ended in september already...

:P

Wait what? You missed the giant founders banner on the website that's been there since June 19th? 5 months man.

Who knows... maybe he just subscribed to the beta and then left waiting for the approval, never coming back to the site.. strange, but possible.

I was waiting for release, I never checked the website, I wasnt to intrested in beta as I was busy playing TSW, GW2 and the CB and now OB of Planetside 2 and CB and OB of Dust 514, I was planning to pre-order when it got to open beta I saw a post on IGN saying OB of Mechwarrior was coming in week so I figured now was the time to play, so I came here and signed up for beta, I saw the founders pack having played a couple of games and thought sure I'll buy it I hit the buy button and it didnt work, so i asked a post about it, then I read more of the forums and another site's review which said MW OB counts as release in all but name due to marketing reasons hence my further comments, as a result I think the question is logical enough, specially seeing as the advert is there covering the whole screen when you login.

Yes, like I said I bet there has been other ways to claim it, but I have missed it. And like I said I'd gone for the elite or possibly the legendary if I had the chance now after I've played the game. I wouldn't give out 120$ for a game I haven't played. So big banners on websites doesn't help now.

Yeah, as other people have said, the founders program was available for 4-5 months, you can't get mad at the dev's for you not finding out about the game in time, they had plenty of advertisements.

The main page of the mwo site had the founders packages in a big ad, which detailed that you got into the beta instantly if you bought a founders pack.

The founders program was not a pre-order, it was, as the name implies, to help start up the game.

And that's why my name will be in the credits of MWO... for helping fund their need for hot-pockets, pizza, beer, and coffee :P

I have to agree. I only got into the beta yesterday. I have been following the game for some time. But i have been burned by too many F2P games over the last few years to ever put down money with out first playing it. Now that i have played and gotten to see what this game offers, I would have gladly gotten one of the founder packs. Oh well. Just have to wait until the next promotion.

Waiting for "release" in order to "pre-order" a game?

Not a very bright troll, if you ask me.

All you that have access to Beta and are new... please understand that modifying the UI of a game or program is not always an easy task... and is probably on their list of things to adjust prior to "Open Beta"... btw... it's still "Closed Beta" folks... have patience with the Devs and stop shedding tears. There will be other promotions I'm sure in the future :)

Dude, would hate to see someone leave under that impression. The Founders packs were, I would think, more of a "thanks for beta testing/we need money to satisfy the investors type of thing" from the early on stages...I don't know maybe I'm wrong.
So don't bounce just bc of the Founders thing, stick around, bud...submit tickets when you find something, join a group, get on comms, and give it hell :)

This game is a free to play game, there is no "pre-order" for it. Therefore your statement of it no longer being in beta if the pre-orders are taken down is wrong.

Founders packs have been up for sale for WAY too long anyway. It's good that they finally brought them down. They went on sale June 16th (if i remember correctly). I bought mine the day they went on sale because they were suppose to end on August 7th but they kept pushing back the ending date which makes me feel like less of a 'founder'. We helped fund the game, if they kept selling them then calling them founders packages would be wrong because all of the new guys joining up could just get one and then be called founders when in reality they are not.

That they extended the founders pack offer so much suggests that the developers wanted more money. You're not any less of a founder. The developers just weren't meeting their kickstarter goal.

Its not even released yet.... thats not cool seriously not cool, beta means beta...., allot of players wont touch it till release or close, cutting of pre-orders whilst still in open beta..... that's going to loose you allot of customers from the get go, potentially me included like most people I know I was waiting for a final release date planning on pre-ordering if I beta'd atall it'd just be to get ahead in time for release, ending pre-order mean you have released it you just arent being honest about it, its not just a matter of how good a game is its how the company treats potential customers that decides weather you play a game nowdays, it could hardly be a worse start. and if its ended WHY is the advert still in game.... remove it, if your pre-order program is ended its no longer beta either, you cant have it both ways, you'll have to explain to everyone waiting for it to be released why they cant pre-order the game to.

well...i hate to burst your bubble...but this pre-order was around for a long time...they even extended it 3 times or so...dont cry about it because you didnt have the guts to pull the trigger on the purchase...i ordered the elite founders and dont regret it one bit....i hope that explanation is good enough...

Do you guys get mad at a store (like, say, Best Buy) when you walk into a store and find out that the thing you just bought was on sale last week? Do you whine to the clerk or manager that it is unfair?

They come into my store every day
