I've just sent friend requests to the guys who made the videos in hopes that they could tell me how they did it. The problem I'm having is that I can't get xfire to detect MWO, even when I find the exe manually.

Do people still use X-Fire?
I don't think it had a record function back when I briefly used it (circa 2003).
Anyways, I use Fraps (full version).

Record at half size, which given I run at 1280x960 gives a recording size of 640x480 - respectable enough for youtube purposes.
Raw footage usually comes in about 5-6GB per 15min match.

Then I either use Virtual Dub to encode it to XVid, which usually gives a final size of apx 250-500mb, or Premir Pro and use the .FLV encoder, which usually puts me to about 140-200mb.

Then the whole thing gets upped to youtube.
I've recoded a bunch of scrims for our team this way, the image quality isn't the greatest ever, but it's an ok compromise if I don't want to dedicate my entire life to uploading vids.

If you can get xfire to detect the game Scroll Lock + V should start the video recording feature.

I was playing around with my ini and managed to get mine to work. Heres a copy of my game setup from the ini directly, a c/p might just get it working for you.

[4200]
LongName=MechWarriorOnline
ShortName=MechWarriorOnline
LauncherDirDefault=C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Bin32
LauncherExe=Launcher.exe
Launch=%UA_LAUNCHER_EXE_PATH%
InGameRenderer=D3D9
InGameFlags=ENABLE_MOUSE

If that doesn't work, however, you can use a program called Xfire Game Optimizer to install it. Direct it to your shortcut on your desktop, then change the ini to the one above. Hope it helps.

Found out that I needed to be logged in as administrator to get the manual detection of MWO to work. I'll be uploading some videos to xfire of the new content in the next patch, along with some gameplay.

MSI Afterburner has a record function now and barely makes a dent on game performance for me. Worth a look.
