"Wolf's Dragoons led by Natalia Kerensky using Ragnarok mechs firing lava cannons supported by a lance of Mad Cat and one of Timber Wolf mechs."

I don't get how anyone could even remotely question the canonicity of this game... :)

Now that got a good chuckle out of me :)

It's like they got all the TRO's the sourcebooks and put them into a blender.

Hate to tell you this, but there is a massive fleshed out universe that Battletech/Mechwarrior is set in.
Mechassault is so extremely watered down from the source material that it only has a few mechdesigns and names in common with the sourcematerial.

The Battletech universe leans far more towards hard science fiction then the arcade type setting the Mechassault games have.
There's no lava cannons or homing PPC's in Battletech for instance.

They were certainly entertaining games, but they're also quite different. If you come into this game expecting a new MechAssault you will probably be disappointed. It should be a great game though, so I hope you'll find yourself enjoying it. ;D

mechassault was a good game i believe for all. like the hard core mechwarriors who wanted some mild amusement and those who were learning to play like i was and it's been a good three years since i played mechassault as is but in the begining i had no idea that the mechassault franchise was based of the battletech franchise at all thats cause i was playing mechassault from the age of six until the second one came out...(ahh.... pieces by red such a nice song) sorry back to topic alot of people need to stop being so touchy about how people came to this game cause we all have our own interests but where human not some narrow thought prossess beasts that kill each other over fickel things like omg he/she plays mechassault dis him/her and kill him/her the way the world runs now days makes me sick to think we live in such a society it IS disgusting i must say

and by the way destiny valkyrie i do agree that the ymir is better than the ragnarok in many ways it wins my vote i can tell ya mate
(yes im an australian)

Were they all that different? I liked them both. Though I wish they were in an actual MechWarrior game. I really don't understand everyone's hating Mechassault either. Mechassault introduced me to Battletech. And there hasn't been a Battletech game I haven't liked.
