In some way I would like to see a PVE element make its way into this game. There are those of us that have had so many bad and poor online PVP gaming experiences that I feel leery of a game that is all PVP. I just have this horrid feeling that the twitch gamers and people who do nothign but play games like PVP will ruin it for anyone who is a fan and dosent.
I can be assured that this game will not be like that, but I have heard that before from other game makers. In a game like this I would seriously suggest putting in a PVE element for when your Merc unit isnt online where you can go and play either by yourself or with one maybe two members of your unit. If your truely thinking mechwarrior and not battletech (two different elements) then you must consider this suggestion. It will also be good for getting people back on their feet with repairs for mechs and the like. For instance if I get my mech scorched bad and they tear everything apart (which can be done to grief a player).
Make the PVE missions low risk / reward missions where you can get a little extra cash maybe a few extra parts. These could be like doing garison missions on a backwater world to gaurd duty at a spaceport. I just dont want to see this game turn into what every other PVP game ends up being, Fastest connection, fastest computer, fastest reflexes = win every time. While sure thats a part of what the game is supposed to be its not all it should be. If it does begin to occur a PVE element gives people a break from it so they dont get ticked and walk away from it after being fustrated to death.

This means to code AI, which can take months/years to make it work properly.
PVE is nice to add after some working & ballanced PVP stable

Oh I do agree I am not saying add it right away just that they should add it for those that dont care to much for the PVP otherwise I can assure you the few will chase off the many. Seen it happen time and time again.

This topic has been brought up in many different threads recently. PvE is a different game in my opinion. Have them focus on PvP and make that enjoyable. If this game turns out to be profitable maybe they can make a sequel with some single player components. It's not in the scope of this game to add AI and do all the testing and balancing that goes with it.
People here keep saying "not right away, maybe after the release". But I really don't think that's likely. After the game is released they will be busy fixing bugs, adding new content such as mechs and weapons and maps, and adding new game modes. They most likely will not have the resources to add large features like this.
No, this game is not going to appeal to everyone, but it will be a better game for it.
