Was going to post this in the other thread but it apparently got locked due to flammage... Anyways

Those of you who played Eve probably recognize the name, he also played WoT and I believe I saw his name once in MWO but am not 100% positiive(actually, researched it before posting, confirmed he was an elite founder and seems to match, if it is someone else, please inform me and I will remove the link). http://mwomercs.com/.../5392-vile-rat/

He died last night in the attack on the US Benghazi embassy, apparently online intermittently during the attack.

When I saw Vile Rat in the title, I was expecting this to be something entirely different.

RIP Sean

I only knew him as any other eve player does and heard him on comms a handful of times. Always sad to lose a community member.

We should take the opportunity to reflect that while the Intertubz can be full of flame, it can also build lasting bonds and that we should always treat each other with dignity and respect for we are all human.

Never meet him in Eve, nor WoT, but he sounded like an amazing person to have known. My sympathies and condolences to friends and families.

I don't stray from the Fanfiction threads much, but I wanted to pay tribute to Vile Rat.

I've played EVE for a few years now, and I've sat in on dozens of team speak planning sessions with him, and while we weren't the closest of comrades, i had a ton of respect for the man. He changed the landscape of an entire fictional universe with his life, and his death is a real tragedy in this world and the one we flew internet spaceships together in. You'll be missed Sean, I hope your shooting blues in a better place now.

The worst thing about this, he was presumably killed over some poorly made stupid movie.

My sincerest condolences to the Goons and everyone else who knew Sean.

I never met Sean/Vile during my time in EVE, though from all accounts he sounds like a great guy and a great friend who accomplished a lot during his life.

For some reason, this happening directly after 9/11 makes me angry. It is really odd because I try not to get angry.

It is a despicable event that we all wish never happened.

NO NO. Thats just what some in the media are saying and its shows how stupid they are. It was a planned orchistated attack. If you read some of what mittins has posted about it VR made the comment how the local police were oddly takeing pictures just prior to the murderings. Also some hours before al qaeda released a video promoting the attacks on americans in libia. On must not forget these animals are some of the best spin/PR groups in exestance.

Even if it means not much and isn't really helping anyone who is involved, i'll send my condolences to the families of the victims, from far-away-germany. It's really sad that such tragedies still happen.

Rest in Peace PO Vilerat.

Well, not really.

Something like this usually is only the culmination of a long process.
It needs people becoming radical in their views and feeling a lot of hatred to establish structures and organizations capable of armed violence, and it is usually the result of a long time of destabilization in a country for people to become that radical.

Then, when you have an already volatile situation, any kind of perceived or real provocation can be enough to let that violence erupt, unfortunately.
