Also, exactly 30 minutes later at 2:45pm, Kyle posted a secure transmission that was removed later that day with no records of its deletion. The transmission was mostly random numbers, but with one possibly-sensible string at the end.

Ahha! Thanks, pursang. Old to BT, but new to the Sarna site. Didn't realize I could search by tonnage.
And on another note, as far as the Imp and Annihilator, it wouldn't make sense to allow us to use them. At this point in the timeline, I believe they were both exclusive to Wolfs' Dragoons. The only ones that operated elsewhere were captured as battlefield salvage.

In MW-O, factions need faction mechs. Each of the Great Houses is a faction, but so is "mercenary". By launch, I'd expect one faction mech in each weight category for each faction (except FRR, 'cos their gear is a mix of Steiner & Kuritan), including the Mercenary faction. Now it may be that those merc faction mechs include some designs that are Wolf's Dragoons only in BT, and some purists will doubtless rant all over the forums about it. But it's a new game with new internal logic.

No, every faction does not need faction-specific 'Mechs, and no, mercenaries are not a specific faction.
Is that clear enough for you?

I hardly see Mercenary as a faction, any more than Lone Wolf is. Also, the devs have hinted around about staying true to canon, for the most part. No participation in famous canon battles, and such. Taking a step back from the history and storylines might be a mistake. Obviously some things will change, but it's foolhardy to go making assumptions, at this point in time.

Gotta go with the Annihilator... great from MW3 and also Mektek's MW4 add-on. Focus is on my favorite range of combat (medium) and has enough punch to knock mediums and heavies to the ground! You say weaknesses, but I think that range weaknesses can be more than made up for with lance combat and and good range strategy......

I'd still disagree with the first bit, because the devs have already told us that we'll have to pay extra for non-faction mechs. And if you're right about the second bit, does that mean that players who choose the Mercenary affiliation will have to pay more for all mechs, because they won't have any faction-discount designs? Seems a bit harsh.
And if the mercs aren't getting their own mechs designs, why are the Annihilator & Imp in this poll? Could the person who put them there explain this?

Can you name any other 100 ton BattleMechs that are in production during this time period and in use by InnerSphere forces? Aside from the Atlas of course. I would take these polls with a grain of salt if I where you; this is more to gauge interest then anything else. I highly doubt any of these 'Mechs will be in at launch, anyway.

I'd agree with that. We already have the Awesome & the Atlas. That's probably all you'd need at launch in the assault category (including 2 or 3 variants per chassis). But I'm still wondering if the Merc. affiliation is going to get any mechs at cost, or if they'll have to pay more for everything.
(Edit) How did I forget that we still need the Stalker? A bit of everything, & suitable for all affiliations.
