I think it will be kinda cool to have this option inside the game
How this can work?
before you enter a battle you can choose if you want to have a MechCommander or even be a MechCommander yourself for that match.
Then the system will match you up with the enemy team that also have a MechCommander.
As a MechCommander you can do various of stuff:
1. See the battlefield from above as if it were an RTS game:
-You can only see your team Mechs and any enemy within range of your Mech sensor(AKA Fog of War)
-You can Tag enemy mechs that are in proximity of your own team's Mechs
-You can warn specific mechs of upcoming assult
-You can tag a specific mech in your team for support from other players
-You can mark a path on the map viewable by your team(like in the video)
2. Special abilities:
-You can order an air-strike(small and bif AoE)
-You can order a drone that reveal a small location's Fog of War.
-You can order a drop of a repair tower that repairs any mech that come close enough to it at a specific rate(only red armor and up can be repaired, destroyed parts cannot be repaired)
-You can order a drop of a minefield at a targeted area(works both ways so need to be cerful)
-You can order a drop of a SAM turret
-You can disable the radars and sensors of enemy mechs in a small area for a short duration.
How to become a MechCommander and whats the limits:
In order to be able to play as a MechCommander, you need to reach an Elite rank in the tree.
In order to unlock abilties you need to spend exp to buy them
you only have a fixed amount of abilities to take for each mission, so you need to choose wisely.
