Hi all. I just got into the beta so naturally i have a few questions which i hope you can help me with. To make this easy for me and you i will just list them by numbers.

1. Is there any type of empty or practice map, something with maybe a target dummy just to test out what each control does exactly and to get some feel of the game without been thrown in a real match as soon as you first log in.

2. Are there any detailed descriptions of what specific equipment does? I am trying to decide which mech to buy first and frankly with an hour worth of trial mech experience i have no idea what SRM6, Flamer and other pieces do. I got some vague understanding of different type of lasers and maybe 2 other weapon types, but other than that i am in the dark.

3. In addition to the second question, if there indeed is an info tab in the game of some sorts with stats of each weapon, is there a place when you can see the recommended usage. For example i noticed that there is a "lock on" - targeting reticule going from orange to red. Is that a missile lock? Some sort of laser boost? Is there any place in game where we can get such information?

After some poking with the in game menus, left clicking, right clicking on listed gear i couldnt get any information on anything and its quite confusing. But i guess i am missing something.

Anyway, thanks for the help in advance and sorry for being so noob, but i ll go by the "The only stupid question is the one that is not asked." and try to absorb some knowledge from people who have it

Oh damn, sorry seems i wasnt logged in at first and i didnt see the beta subforums and the "Newbie" section, where this thread clearly belongs. So if you can please move it or delete it and i ll remake.
Sorry :/

No, but you can look in the Options for the Controls. It at least will tell you which buttons do what (for the most part).

Not exactly what you are looking for, but wouldn't be a bad place to poke around.

What you describe is probably missiles locking on. Either LRM or SSRMs. No there isn't any place in game to get the information, but PGI says they are working on a tutorial.

There is a forum thread that contains detailed info on what all the weapons do vis a view damage, heat generation and range. I don't have a link but I'm hoping someone else does...

Here is the detailed list that Sam Slade is referring to, and no it hasn't been updated yet since the patch on the 25th. Come on, Ohm has to get some rest mang.
