You guys are driving me nuts. :)

The paint scheme on Yen-Lo Wang is a CANON paint scheme. We did not mistakenly stick a somewhat Japanese related emblem on a Chinese named Mech. We just kept the color from the stories/miniatures/trading cards/TT etc etc etc.

And before you start waiving your torches around, we will be releasing some new info on the other hot topics. This one was personally grating on me.... so there! :)

- Paul

BTW: I am Japanese and am very well aware of the slight oversight of the original design but we kept it since it was canon.

Nice. Most of those rage-posting didn't know the canon paint scheme, even though plenty of people posted the original paint scheme.

Sweet. First.

As mentioned in other places, the BT universe is full of cultural fusions that stem from humanity's diaspora to the stars. The YWL can be seen merely as an artifact of this fictional trend.

Thanks for that Paul... have kept out of the threads complaining about it myself... but agreed, you guys made the right choice by sticking with what the YLW scheme was...

Just fix the offset and center the sunburst.

I want more news! And what's this about Open Beta on Monday nonsense?

Except that it isn't.

The starburst eye centered on laser in the center torso of the mech is canon.

The offset sunburst of the Japanese Imperial Navy is NOT canon.

One is acceptable and the other is a cultural insult.

deal with it. :)

This. It doesn't help that much of early BT is filled with cultural stereotypes and oversights galore. Just appreciate it for what it is - unique.

Well since you asked, it's bec- Oh sorry Paul, habit by now. :) Maybe pin this one. It is a confusing scheme if you don't know much about it...seemingly no one can go over to Sarna anymore. Guess it broke down or something.

The paint job is ugly (no offense, just my opinion), but I didn't exactly have an issue with it.

Now, about the CN9-AH... :)

It's designed to say "Hey, shoot me here, on this big red dot and you will blow my AC20 off" :)

This.

If they restore the CN9-AH, I will likely buy and try the YLW, but I'm not sure I can handle the color scheme. But that doesn't make the color scheme bad or anything, just not my style.

And before anyone says it, I love Japanese Culture as a general rule. So I'm not saying its ugly because it has any relation to the Japanese flag or anything :)

I was aware of the paint scheme when I went looking at mech miniatures.

My main interesting is being able to take that paint scheme, or any other special paint scheme, and apply it to any mech of my choosing.

Plan:
Take founder mech's paintjob.
Place on another mech.
Profit.

Take Yen-Lo Wang's paintjob.
Discard mech (its hardpoint limitations are inferior to its Centurion counterparts).
Place on mech of choice, Centurion or otherwise.
Profit.

I do think that the original pain of the mech when Allard first "borrowd it" was bone white... The current paint seems to come from the CCG. or the later novels... Not sure.

But i like it.. it is very striking.

Speaking of that I'd like to see McCalls Bannockburn Highlander as the next hero mech... Who does not like a Highlander with a Tartan Paintjob.
