Just to clear up some any confusion some people may be having, allow me to provide some information for each listed ship:

Star Wars X-Wing: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/X-Wing

Battlestar Galactica Viper: http://en.battlestar...i/Viper_Mark_II

Babylon 5 Starfury: http://babylon5.wiki...undyne_Starfury

Stargate SG-1 F-302: http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/F-302

Star Trek Maquis Raider [Note, since the Maquis Raider is really too large to be considered a traditional fighter, I'm fairly sure the OP meant the similiar looking Federation Attack Fighter, as that would be construed as a more traditional fighter. I will link both just in case]: http://en.memory-alp...i/Maquis_raider
http://en.memory-alp..._attack_fighter

All links are from official Wikis and should be 100% safe.

DS9 had fighters?

Well, yes, kind of http://en.memory-alp...eration_fighter

They're not really used like fighters, but close enough.

As for the best craft on the list, I'd go with the F-302. Like much of the equipment in Stargate, it was the product of making up for lack of technology with lots of creativity, and I always liked that about the Tau'ri. Besides, it's always nice having a fighter that's FTL-capable.

X-Wing. Of the poll choices, it has by far the best games associated with it. Also, Ihave a lingering attachment to my heavy X-wing from SWG.

The X-Wing series of games was so great. I still have X-Wing alliance hanging around somewhere.

I voted for the starfury just because it actually obeys the laws of physics, but my favorite looking fighter of all time is the SF Manticore. Its an iconic, truly alien looking ship

I can't believe stuff from non gaming media tops the list! Where is Freespace? Where is the whole Wing Commander experience?

In television, I love the F302 from Stargate:

But in video games, I would have to pick the Hercules fighter from Freespace:

The Medusa Bomber from Freespace:

The Pyro GX from Descent:

Even though "Other" is the only option that will be picked from now on, it is available. I can't put 20 different games and shows in.

Also, the sexier Starfury.

almost voted for Viper, cause i grew up with the (ORIGINAL) Battlestar series...
but honestly, I don´t have ONE favourite.. more like at least one in every Universe..
StarWars: TIE-Interceptor / Sun Crusher
Battlestar: Viper
Freespace: the SF Dragon and the GTF Ulysses
Freespace 2: Still the Uly, and the Hercules Mk II.
Stargate: Al´Kesh (Death Glider)
... and the list goes on and on and on... :D

if this were about the BIG pots, it´d be the Andromeda Ascendant

X-Wings, seriously?

They don't have jump drives (no idea how Luke got out system), they only have a tiny laser array and terrible armor if their shields get breached. They're only slightly better than freaking TIE Fighters.

I'm pretty sure even a BTU fighter could tear one to shreds almost instantly, and they're pretty low on the tier of sci-fi fighter craft. I've gotta go with any jump fighter from the Wing Commander universe on this one (as far as manned fighter craft going), like the Dragon.

Sweet the Centurion...oh dear old friend..

What no Eisensturm in a BattleTech forum?

Considering the most trouble i ever had with a enemy star fighter: TIE-Defender
The F302 looks like a Lightning or do the Lightning look like the F302??

i would have to say http://images.wikia....4e/Predator.jpg Predator from the Starlancer series. Granted I'm a Star Wars fan, Battlestar Galactica (remake) fan, Babylon 5 fan, and Stargate fan (Original, SG-1, Atlantis, Universe)... but THIS.. the StarLancer series would probably be right up there with some of the best.. including the Wing Commander fighters.

OP... you realize how difficult this question actually is.. it quite litterally scared the "dren" out of me. (Farscape term)

Space Above and Beyond - The Hammerhead

Ran about the same time as Babylon 5 but ended after 3 seasons. Had a gun under the nose that was a bit like the cannons on attack choppers.
