I still prefer the "tall", frontal style of the original canopy and the Phoenix version tho.

I agree. The third one works better over all. Plus by moving the shoulder packs back, it gives the rear section more definition than just a flat area. When I angled the side torsos back, the AEGIS type mounts didn't fit properly from different perspective views.
Dropped the AWACs style dome and am trying out the Jagermech's antenna. Also started surface details.

This first image I continued with the surface details and started experimenting with a few objects. I wanted to break up the large, flat and blank armor plate on the torsos. But couldn't narrow down a design.
I also decided against the Jaegermech antennae. First of all this isn't supposed to be a Jegermech. Also the antenna is too close to the Defender's design.

I decided to drop the lower armor plates for a suggestion of heat exchangers. I also dropped the three squares that are present on the left and right torso section. The idea came from details on the Reseen Rifleman, but didn't seem to have any purpose here. Then I cut the corners off of the top of the shoulder mounts. I solved the "blank space" issue on the side torso armor by adding panel lines. Simple, but it works.
Lastly, I had a bit of inspiration and instead of the boomerang radar or the AWACS dome, I thought, "How about the Longbow?"
As in Apache Longbow.

The rear details were surprisingly simple. I wanted to reflect the relationship to my Warhammer (apart from its legs) so I copied a few details over. Like the lower vents, tow rings, and engine core covers.
Mounting the electronics gear gave me ideas for more detailing.

Now all that's left is the cockpit! I'm thinking of detailing the cockpit canopy in a fashion similar to a B-29 front.

AWESOME!!!!!!! I love that antenna compromise, and may well have to steal it!

Ironically, no canon variant of the Rifleman actually has twin ACs in the arms; most mount a single ballistic and sometimes a single large energy weapon in each arm, despite what the illustrations and models appear to show. It only has that appearance because it's a clone of the Defender AA destroid from Macross.
Looking forward to seeing how you tackle the cockpit!

I don't know of any version with four ballistic weapons. Usually a single autocannon and an energy weapon paired in each arm.

I wasn't sure at first, but all of the other options, including not having something back there, just didn't seem to fit.
And here it is, the finished model (I hope!).

Now lets put it all together.
